Bones308th Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 Hey guys! Where’s the click spot to make the stick visible in the VC? Can’t find it. I see nothing in neither the Special Menu, or in the controls menu. Thanks. Ray
Bones308th Posted September 30, 2020 Author Posted September 30, 2020 I have a stick Okay! That’s great! Thanks for letting us know. I still don’t have one. Ray
Ziptie Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 Okay! That’s great! Thanks for letting us know. I still don’t have one. Ray Odd, I've never been able to remove the stick from view in the previous A10C, or the new iteration of the A10C. Running any mods by chance? Not sure why you wouldn't have it rendered. I’m running it on a laptop, as I use it for mission building. I originally had a flight with the original A-10C. I just changed the flight to the II. I also added a single A-10C II flight and is the same. Is in Incirlik, Syria. I’m gonna try a clean mission and see if I’m able to see it. I don’t have any flight controls connected. Ray

Just using the monitor and when panning the view down / zooming out the stick isn't there? I use VR, so very unfamiliar with the 2D world of DCS. Bones308th Posted October 1, 2020 Author Posted October 1, 2020 Guys. I ran a repair, uninstalled and reinstalled BOTH modules. Same thing. Anything else I can try?
Ziptie Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 (edited) Guys. I ran a repair, uninstalled and reinstalled BOTH modules. Same thing. Anything else I can try? Are you using one of the cockpit texture mods (I know you said you didn't have any mods but mistakes have been made before, you wouldn't be the first) or have you selected the "new" aircraft cockpit option in a menu somewhere? That pit looks pristine and the one I'm using has a very worn effect to it. You sure there is no texture mod, like Riccardo(sp?) made that was very popular for quite some time - which could be causing the issue of the missing stick? Cheers, Ziptie I tell you what: how do I confirm I’m not using a mod? Seriously. I’m not being sarcastic. As far as I know man, I don’t have any mods installed. I did remember selecting the new cockpit option in the Specials tab of the A-10C II menu, but I did select it after I noticed the issue. Where are mod files saved? I’ll delete all of them. I’ll check again tomorrow morning, and post here on my findings. Thanks again for your help. Ray
Ziptie Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 There's two versions of the A-10C II cockpit, one pristine and one dirty. Selectable in the special tab. I was aware of that, but wondered if maybe the pristine/new cockpit had some issue and didn't show the stick - as I haven't flown with that one - only the "stock" worn cockpit texture. The other question, was simply because at one point I used the cockpit texture mod from that creator (think it was called warhorse by Riccardo or something close). Just not sure how the stick is missing from his game - as many have requested the ED add the option to hide the stick, and he can't even get it to display. Very odd. Ray I believe that they would be located in either the saved games dcs folder, under the mods sub folder - or in the main dcs folder, under the mods sub folder. But another member might be better suited to give you the exact location. I do know, that if you run the dcs repair tool, there is a prompt that pops up and asks if you'd like to remove mods and when you select yes - it removes them. I've done that long ago, when I used a cockpit texture mod for the "original" A10C. EDIT: There ya go, that member would be a better source for where a mod is located rather than myself. Bones308th Posted October 1, 2020 Author Posted October 1, 2020 Welcome to the club man! Let’s see if we can figure this out! Okay so, here’s the latest: 1. I selected the aged cockpit in the Specials tab. 2. I ran a repair and selected the modified (default) option, and selected to delete the files it found on the initial screen. Got a repair successful. 3. I went to Saved Games\DCSopenbeta\Mods\aircraft. I deleted an A-4C folder there. That’s all I found. 4. Went to the Liveries folder, and I just have an F-16C, and an F-18C_hornet folder. I didn’t touch them, as those are liveries for the virtual squadron I fly with, and I really don’t think it’ll have any effect. All the above did not fix it guys. Attached is a screenshot of the aged cockpit. Any ideas? Ray

Tippis Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 I wouldn't be surprised if there's some deprecated setting for stick removal that is still present in your original game config file, but which isn't shown in the UI even though the module still reads and reacts to it “properly”. If you have a good file compare tool, check your original Saved Games\DCS\Config\Options.lua file against a newly created one, and in particular look out for lines that exist in one file but not the other. ❧ ❧ Inside you are two wolves. One cannot land; the other shoots friendlies. You are a Goon. ❧ ❧
Bones308th Posted October 1, 2020 Author Posted October 1, 2020 Cool! Let me try that. Thanks! Ray Nailed it! That worked for me as well. However, we gotta narrow it down man, because it looks like all the settings are now at default. We got progress! That’s good. Ray
