Emmy Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 People whose opinions I trust say a large portion of the new avionics brings this Hog up to at least 2012. Ziptie Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 Thanks for info. So 2012 onwards. I'd think "up to 2012 or so" is what he was saying, rather than "2012 to present or close to it." Cheers, Ziptie i7 6700 @4ghz, 32GB HyperX Fury ddr4-2133 ram, GTX980, Oculus Rift CV1, 2x1TB SSD drives (one solely for DCS OpenBeta standalone) Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, Thrustmaster Cougar MFDs Airframes: A10C, A10CII, F/A-18C, F-14B, F-16C, UH=1H, FC3. ataribaby Posted October 1, 2020 Author Posted October 1, 2020 (edited) I see, So far I found: 2005 - update program started - Suite 3 version that we had as now old A-10C module. 2011 - HMCS introduction as we have now with new module So far I roughly got this: Old A-10C module missions time frame - 2005 - 2008 New A-10C module mission time frame - 2011 - 2012 I just looking for some general mission timeframe guidelines in limitations of what we have in-game and this years looks reasonable to me what info I found I got here. Schmidtfire Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 A clear Suite number has not been given. It is probably a bit of a mix and match and not exact simulation of a certain suite. APKWS was not introduced on A-10C until 2016. So it is really doubtful that a 2012 version was interfaced, even for testing.
Sierra99 Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 A clear Suite number has not been given. It is probably a bit of a mix and match and not exact simulation of a certain suite. APKWS was not introduced on A-10C until 2016. So it is really doubtful that a 2012 version was interfaced, even for testing. February 2013: APKWS launched from an A-10 Thunderbolt II. Three sorties were conducted. The first sortie carried the rocket and launcher, and the second sortie fired an inert, unguided rocket to ensure the weapon would separate from the aircraft. Two armed rockets were fired during the third sortie from 10,000 and 15,000 feet. The second rocket launched into a 70 knot headwind, and both impacted within inches of the target. The Air Force is considering using the APKWS II operationally by 2015 if further testing is successful.[26] Don't confuse capable of being used with unable to be used...several different sources indicate the weapon was tested and deemed appropriate for use on the A-10C following the 2012 testing. Political and budgetary issues played a large role in it's noT being more widely fielded Until 2015. ataribaby Posted October 2, 2020 Author Posted October 2, 2020 Well, at the end it is just game so this rough timeframes works for me. Life is too short ... ;)
silverdevil Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 i see something referencing the A-10 and F-16 both got the helmet sight starting in 2012. the new JDAM seems to be much newer. like 2015 or newer. also confirmation that the rockets were on A-10C and F-16 in 2016. Dragon1-1 Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Actually, the LJDAM had its first combat deployment in 2008, albeit from a Viper. Full rate production began in 2012. It's fairly new, but not as new as it seems. APKWS is from 2016, but in theory, it could be strapped onto a Vietnam-era OV-10 and it'd work. It's just a Hydra 70 with a seeker attached.
