JSpidey Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 Hey guys, the problem I'm having with the AGM-65E is once I fire my laser from my TGP and uncage my mav seeker it gets a lock but it's offset about 50 meters to the right of my TGP.. laser codes are matched. I'm only having this problem after the big TGP update. If anyone could help me with this I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks
dorianR666 Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 are you shooting at a moving target? if so, target designation does NOT move with point track but laser maverick spot search does. it creates a confusing situation, maverick and tgp are actually looking at the same point - but on hud the symbols of maverick and target designation are increasing distance from each other over time. i dont know if this is realistic behaviour but it is so in the game right now. I found that a quick re-designate on the TGP and immediately firing the laser gets a good lock on the Mav. After firing and keeping the laser active it tracks a moving target just fine. Can't imagine that this is true to real world but it's a workable workaround... JSpidey Posted October 7, 2020 Author Posted October 7, 2020 (edited) Nah targets are not moving, it does it on stationary targets as well. Edited October 7, 2020 by ItaLiaNKiinG
Sn8ke Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 I noticed something has been different, so I did some trouble shooting. Select your target...sensor select right for area track (static), TDC depress to designate, sensor select left to Laser Maverick display, uncage if it didn’t automatically. Now here is what I did differently...sensor select right BACK TO TGP DISPLAY, weapons release button once to get laser firing, mave on hud will uncross and indicate locked, weapon release again to fire the missile. One thing I noticed which is weird, hitting the bomb release R ALT+SPACE actually fired my laser, which is weird. It never was that way before, I don't know I'll have to go back in and test things out again. Maybe it was an error on my part.

JSpidey Posted October 7, 2020 Author Posted October 7, 2020 (edited) Alright I figured out what was wrong. When I designate a target, the designation symbology (diamond) on the hud is offset to the left, I have to slew right in order to match the hud designation diamond with what my TGP reticle was originally looking at, that caused some confusion while shooting mavs, as the mav seeker symbology was slaved to my TGP reticle and my designation TGP diamond on the hud was offset to the left, made me think the mavs were not tracking my laser properly, but why is it offset? JSpidey Posted October 7, 2020 Author Posted October 7, 2020 Same here Try hitting TDC depress to go into designation mode on the TGP and then holding trigger (with trigg boxed)
Sn8ke Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 Try hitting TDC depress to go into designation mode on the TGP and then holding trigger (with trigg boxed) I have done this, however I do not believe this is the correct sequence in real life. maxTRX Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 I've tested AGM65E and GBU10 on a moving target and the lasing part worked good. In both cases I was able to get a lock with a Tpod at around 10 nm. As far as Tpod is concerned, everything looked good except, when using the offset cursor to designate a new position in front of the moving vehicle and switching to point track, then 'bumping' the SCS toward the Tpod display to center the pod on the new designation, It seemed like the Tpod locked on "below ground" elevation. I think someone reported this bug already. After correcting the diamond position to line up directly ahead of the moving vehicle then going point track again, the Tpod gate snapped to the first vehicle and I was able to release the weapon. The laser tracked flawlessly. The HUD target diamond was locked stationary on the ground at the spot when I pressed TDC to lock the offset cursor. I just ignored it but... it's a major bug. I know it all sounds chaotic and confusing. I can post a vid if needed tomorrow.

Well when I designate a spot on the ground the HUD target diamond was offset to the left without using the offset cursor. Not sure why that is.
JSpidey Posted October 9, 2020 Author Posted October 9, 2020 Anyone know why I'm having this problem?
maxTRX Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 Anyone know why I'm having this problem? I tried replicating this: start in the air (everything aligned), lock stationary targets, Tpod, HUD and the Mav seeker were all looking at the same spot. I'm sure if your target was a vehicle and it re-positioned, you'd be looking at a ground spot locked on the HUD. Tpod (in spot tracking mode) would probably follow the vehicle and the Mav seeker would too... if unslaved from Tpod;)

Each time I tried it was off. I'll have to play around with it some more, maybe I'll find out the reason.
