In another twist, I suddenly became an Su-25T afficionado. As it happens, I totally misunderstood how you had to fly it. I was constantly jerking around with the stick, and felt it always seemed to have this tendency to drop out of the sky like a brick.

After several threads also involving Yo-yo it already emerged that you had to trim the aircraft to fly it right and use the autopilot, but I never really bothered, in my view trimming was for airliners, and autopilot equals boring.

Fact is however that you have to "fly-by-trim" the aircraft. If done properly, it flies like a charm. Just use one of the hat-switches for trim and fly the aircraft that way. The autopilot is a dream, and indeed a necessity.

I prefer NOT to load the Vikhr's though. They have a very negative impact on the Su-25T's flight performance, and precisely in the domain where it excells: at high speed. It can fly incredibly fast when loaded with slick weapons like Karen or Kilter missiles. Very important to make stingers bite the flares and not your tail.

I'm in the process to make Su-25T copies of my A-10 missions, and it emerges you need to adjust a lot to the flightpath, initial attack point etc. to make them Su-25T-flyable.

You need enough distance between each waypoint and have a straight, gently diving attack profile.

So I guess my main mistake was to come from A-10 flight to Su-25T without adapting. The fact that you have no inertia modelling in the A-10 makes that you can fly it at will jerking with the stick. That is not a good habit anyway, since you often get in a sideslip and do not fly at the aerodynamic optimum trajectory.

I just post this for eventual newer players that share the same worry about how to fly the Su-25T. Are there still newer players BTW or have we grown old together playing this game ?

Notice that without Vikhrs you lose about 14 missiles (!), and relation of higher speed in relation to Vikhrs isn't too big, you don't gain too much addictional speed, also you can fly full loaded brick with extremally shivering cabine, without Vikhrs your cabina won't shake much but for me the shaking isn't big problem but I try to fly without very big shakes. Karen and Kilter are heavy missiles, oh the 29L\TV is heavier, hehe this missile is so big :)

I saw few more guys which begun now fly this cow :)

The carrying of Vikhrs largely depends on your Mission Objective - if you're in for a quick strike and run, then Vikhrs will be a liability.........if you are however Tank-Busting or the like and can afford to loiter then those Devil-Darts are a must, especially if tasked with supression of SHORAD :gun_sniper:

I tend to expend them first and Jettison the APU-8 Launchers and then if circumstances permit start dealing out lessons with the 30mm.....

Flying clean and engaging with the 30mm is a helluva lotta fun - and of course never leave home without those trusty Archers :D

I have flown the Su-25 and Su-25T explusively since Lomac, and later FC, was released.. And I agree 100% with what TFlash say...

The Su-25T is by my standards the coolest plane to dodge arround in, hiding in valleys from Pilatosso's all seing radar. And outrunning F-15's who quite wrongly belived it flies like a brick..!

My beloved 'Frog' is and agile as hell, hard-hitting, full of surpices BEAUTIFULL plane.!

I only wish more guys would give it's rarities and complex flight model (thank you ED for that.. I just love it still after all this time) a fair chance. And maybe be humble enough to take a step back from the more linear US groundpounder and US/RU fighter jets..? It will require a new and maybe more complex and fliud style of controlling the plane, but I for one can promise you that once you get to know the 'Frog', you will LOVE IT to..!

That being said, Flying fighters are as complex as anything. Just on another level.! They vectorbased combat manouvers for lining yourself up for a perfect locktone, and power managing your jet while in close combat is like doing fractal mathmatics with real short time limit. And don't even get me started on the radars, comms, and flight-group tactics..!

I preferre a 3 ship formation inside a real tight valley racing towards a heavily defended TA with fightercover in my "brick"..! And I can't help but smile everytime I manage out manouver, with quite ease, a figher to the pilots astonishment..!

The frog doesn't fly like a brick.. There are pilots who fly IT like a brick, but who can blame fre 'Frog' for that..?

I 100% agree, but its a hard decision to leave the Vikhr's off:(, but in the right mission its very effective, and Trigg your right, It will fly like a brick if you fly it wrong,( I must admit Ive done that ) we ( 504th) have been training lately on this very subject and have found that it is a very potent weapon on the battle front if provided with sufficient air cover,we now use the auto switches on missions where possible, I might add that anyone interested in discovering the hidden pleasures of the T, would be welcome to have a "trial fly" with us.:music_whistling:.

I always take Vikhrs, on every mission. It is universal missile which can help you on the ground and air :)

I hate autopilot in this plane, simple it is strange... When HUD is screwed example about 45 degrees on the right even if we fly straight ahead and press ALT-3 to turn on "panic" mode it can't level flight and it rolls form left to right all time :D so I rare use any auto modes. Flask what did you mean "trial fly" :P
