On the last two M/P missions I've done with our virtual group, I've experienced a complete zeroed fuel counter in the jet. I've tried to recreate the phenomenon under identical conditions, but it wouldnt reappear.

Some points that I can describe.

Double Ugly config

Cruising at 26k

Last fuel total was 10k before everything zeroed

Fuel Page and IFEI displays both zero

I did not get a TK PRES LO

So has anyone else experienced this? If so, is there a way to fix it? Or prevent it?

Thanks!

Jeff

Well you might want to start by not using some short hand. I don't have a clue as to what a "double ugly" config is.

I've never seen the fuel just go to zero on a whim in the hornet though.

We had 5 guys have the same issue on the mission, so its not just me.

And Double Ugly isnt short hand. Its the Navy's nickname for an asymmetric fuel tank config. 1 tank on the centerline and another on the right wing. This allows the TGP a clear line of sight.

Is it possible that the initial IFEI display is displaying an external fuel tank level (which could have been depleted)? I’ve accidentally done this and had a heart beat skip when glancing down to check fuel level before... just a thought. Not sure that would reflect on the fuel page on a DDI, but haven’t tried to see if it mirrors - as it breaks down all the different tanks in and attached to airframe. Haven’t flown since the newest update, or the particular mission you are flying.

If you are using the term "double ugly" to reference a specific load out instead of spelling out the exact config that would be short hand. Also you shouldn't be assuming that everyone is going to know the definition of Navy short hand in a channel like this. You aren't surrounded by a group of Navy people that you can assume would know these definitions.

Short hand second definition: a simplified or makeshift manner or system of communication

You didn't know what it meant and he explained it to you. Why feel the need to continue that conversation when it brings absolutely nothing to the discussion about the actual problem?

It's a fairly common term and just because you didn't know it and somehow feel slighted doesn't warrant an attack on his use of it. Grow up please.

I’m pretty sure Storm doesn’t need an explanation of what short hand is. If you don’t know the term, educate yourself. It’s a common term in Navy / Marine Corps aviation, which by the way are the only US operators of the F/A-18. Don’t flame other people because of your ignorance.

You shouldn't assume we all know what an F/A-18 is, in a channel like this. You aren't surrounded by smart people. :music_whistling:

I had that issue twice. Once in the previous OB version and one in the current OB version.

- I was double ugly on both, but only had AAR on the 1st one.

- In both cases the external tanks were empty when it happened.

- In both cases it happened after a defensive dive.

unfortunately both of my replay tracks are corrupted.

If that was true he wouldn't have denied it.

It was his stubborness on the issue. I know what it means and looked it up any ways. What he was doing WAS short hand and denying it doesn't make it less true. Just like you trying to start a flame doesn't prove anything but your bias.

"Double Ugly" configuration isn't shorthand. It's a nickname. A moniker. He explained it and showed a picture for reference for those who weren't understanding what he was saying. It's a lot easier to say "Double Ugly" than to explain the asymmetric loadout of a double ugly. Build a bridge and get over it - it was 10 days ago.

@ST0RM - Did you ever encounter this issue again, or discover the cause of it? Following up to see if we can get the explanation for any others who might have this issue - or whether it is time to request this thread be closed.

@Ziptie No Sir, I never did. It only appears during certain mission, so I think we can narrow it down to a script conflict. Which? Not sure yet.

Funny how the uneducated come into these threads and show their ignorance and continue to argue, weeks later.

Copy that sir, sounds indeed like a potential scripting issue. Happy to hear that this issue hasn't plagued you in other tasking. Still interested in what was causing it. Random failures isn't enabled by chance is it, via ME for that particular mission? I know that in a mission I fly, random failures is enabled - and constantly throws the same failures when they arise... Just a final "spit ball" attempt at finding the cause.

That was question #1 to the mission builder. Hey bro, wtf? LOL

We'll now dig in as a group and see what we can narrow it down to. Luckily about 5-7 have had it.

I'll post our findings once we have something.
