Raptor05121 Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 For the past five days, I've been flying several hours a day on the Hoggit GAW server and just trying to learn the jet. I'd do my manual startup and stored heading alignment, turn on IFF, turn on DL and off we go with datalink showing friendlies. For the first 3 days and ~15 or so launches, it worked. I got shot down, respawned and took off again except no more datalink. AWACS is still in the air, startup procedure is still the same, didnt change anything, but for the past two days, no matter what I cycled or reset or even restarted my computer, I cannot get the datalink to show up. Everyone else says theirs is working. I got on discord and streamed to a guy who doubled checked everything with me and even he is perplexed. In short, what conditions would cause the datalink on the F-16 to NOT work? -Alex i9-12900K | RTX3080 | 32GB DDR4 | Water Cooled | Logitech X56 | TrackIR5 | 34" MSI Curved Widescreen 3440x1440
Florence201 Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 Incorrect alignment is the primary. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Raptor05121 Posted November 12, 2020 Author Posted November 12, 2020 I've verified correct alignment several times. Battery on, start engine, alignment to normal, and i didnt touch a thing until it finished, switched to NAV and continued with powering up the jet and still nothing. -Alex i9-12900K | RTX3080 | 32GB DDR4 | Water Cooled | Logitech X56 | TrackIR5 | 34" MSI Curved Widescreen 3440x1440
coolneko Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 If you're aligning in 'norm' you'll have to confirm the coordinates in the ded as the alignment is going on. Just highlight lat, long, and alt and press enter on the icp. 1
Raptor05121 Posted November 12, 2020 Author Posted November 12, 2020 Okay I'll go triple check that -Alex i9-12900K | RTX3080 | 32GB DDR4 | Water Cooled | Logitech X56 | TrackIR5 | 34" MSI Curved Widescreen 3440x1440

Tholozor Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 Confirming the coordinates is only necessary for LAT and LON, system altitude (SALT on the DED) is controlled via the altimeter, and does not need to be confirmed. Raptor05121 Posted November 16, 2020 Author Posted November 16, 2020 Thanks guys, I guess confirming the coordinates did the trick -Alex i9-12900K | RTX3080 | 32GB DDR4 | Water Cooled | Logitech X56 | TrackIR5 | 34" MSI Curved Widescreen 3440x1440
QuiGon Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 I've made a habit of comparing the THDG on the INS page with the magnetic backup compass after completing the alignment. If there's a big difference between them (>15°), then something went wrong and I realign before taking off, because it is really frustrating to notice a failed alignment after takeoff :) Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
Ignition Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 Also remember to not rearm or refuel (not sure with the latter tho, just to be safe) while the align process is running. Hanging this heavy ordinance under the wings lets the plane whiggle - not good for the active alignment process ;) Is this implemented in the F-16?
