johnmjones1975 Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 Are we able to change the laser code in the air? Stuck on a mission from a downloaded user-made campaign where there are 4 targets each with a different laser code They send me up with 4 LGB's so I assume I should be able to drop, change code and repeat. when I pull up the Kneeboard I'm unable to change the code unless I am sitting on the runway. I realize IRL, this entails a ground crew member setting the code on the ground. in DCS, I didn't know if they would be willing to crawl out on the wing with a harness and a wrench. :-)
QuiGon Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 Nope, no such stuntmen in DCS for the Tiger. You can only change the code on thr ground, just like IRL. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
Frederf Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 The kneeboard won't advance through digits unless the battery switch is off and the airplane is on the ground. A mission that's designed for different codes would require a new sortie for each code.
johnmjones1975 Posted November 16, 2020 Author Posted November 16, 2020 Thank you Gents, that's what I thought. I'm gonna play with in the ME and see if I can figure out how to change the assigned laser codes at the unit level. or I'll probably just pull those out and add my own JTAC's if I have to.
Northstar98 Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 Yeah, the GBU-12s for the F-5E-3 are set on the ground by dials on the guidance section that are turned with a flathead screwdriver (same with APKWS too). Once set it's impossible to set them in flight (unless someone is feeling brave enough). As for the JTACs - one of the limitations of combined arms is that AI JTACs will only lase on the default PRF code: 1688, I don't think there's a way to change it without having a human JTAC. Modules I own: F-14A/B, F-4E, Mi-24P, AJS 37, AV-8B N/A, F-5E-3, MiG-21bis, F-16CM, F/A-18C, Supercarrier, Mi-8MTV2, UH-1H, Mirage 2000C, FC3, MiG-15bis, Ka-50, A-10C (+ A-10C II), P-47D, P-51D, C-101, Yak-52, WWII Assets, CA, NS430, Hawk. Dragon1-1 Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 IRL, each LGB would have been set up with a different code on the ground, and you'd just have to keep that in mind which bomb goes where. I don't think that's possible in DCS, though (not with the Tiger, anyway).
