Today's change log states "The new Damage Model is turned on by default for all WWII aircraft."

Question: Can it be disabled? Where?

I don't think so. I believe it just means it's not there but disabled except for the test servers like until now. Now it's always and everywhere available (in open beta, of course).

Would like jump in this thread and say that I’m really pleased with this new damage model. It’s added a new dimension to WW2 in DCS, it’s made the dogfights a bit more personable. I have listened to interviews and understand a new ai intelligence will be introduced at some point, which is great and is really needed, but little things like seeing the 109 roll on its back so the pilot can fall out after being hit just makes it feel more like it’s intelligently controlled. Good work.

Yes, I love it,

although the AI pilots seems to have found that the best way to glide home without an engine is upside down...:lol:wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw==wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw==wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw== continued flying like this for 20+ minutes.

Yeah, same plroblem here. AI A-20 with engines on fire, props stationary, but it kept going and even firing on me after the crew jumped out
