DmitriKozlowsky Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 AHH!! Again RAZBAM changed behavior and procedures for TPOD and JDAM!! TPOD TDC function has disappeared, and it is permanently slaved to ARBS. I cannot unslave it. JDAM GBU-54 release procedure has changed , and I cannot figure out why it wont release. Get TPOD onto target, hold Waypoint for 1 second to feed data to JDAM and for HYD symbiology to display release que. Master Arm ON. Fly into release zone, verify IN RNG, release weapon. But weapon wont release. It is selected, otherwise release que symbiology wont show up. So now there is something else to do or see or wait for. What is it? JHC!! Once you think you got it, they change it around. You have to start over. So frigging frustrating.
Vakarian Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Yeah, the changes were quite substantial and have caught a lot of folks unprepared. They have made a post about it here:https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/english/licensed-third-party-projects/razbam/7121409-razbam-2020-q4-update TPOD now works in 2 modes. INS and HTC and you cycle between them by 2x SSS depress under .8 seconds. Also, it is now mandatory to have the "DESG" boxed on the EHSD to have release cues showing up, so it is something I presume you missed from what I've seen here
DmitriKozlowsky Posted November 26, 2020 Author Posted November 26, 2020 I thought that uncaging the GBU-54 has been added. But not so. Uncaging does change symbology a little but there is no release. Kind of clueless, why it no longer works. Or why TPOD is stuck in slave mode.
Vakarian Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Apparently it still doesn't work correctly as I think I have seen multiple different threads that if you make a system designation it should automatically box the DESG as it creates a designation.... More on that here https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/english/licensed-third-party-projects/razbam/av-8b-n-a/7145331-what-was-fixed-in-the-latest-patch-relative-to-ehsd-desg-and-auto-bombing As for the TPOD being stuck in slave mode, what do you mean by that? Casmo did a great jos explaining some of the stuff that got changed. Try to watch it and see if clarifies things
DmitriKozlowsky Posted November 26, 2020 Author Posted November 26, 2020 In TPOD screen on right MFCD, The SLAVE OSB is boxed. I cannot unbox it by pressing that OSB. It is stuck. As to JDAM release. I have no clue, what to do. Procedure has changed and its WTF until I figure it out, or someone just tells me what to do.
Vakarian Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 In TPOD screen on right MFCD, The SLAVE OSB is boxed. I cannot unbox it by pressing that OSB. It is stuck. I believe that's true for when you have TPOD in INS mode. When you make TPOD go in a "TPOD" mode by pressing SSS depress 2 times, it will no longer be slaved to the INS as it's doing its own designations JDAM drops are easy for the TOO mode. First press that DESG button to box it. Master arm On -> A/G mode -> Set fusing. After that, find the target with the TPOD and pres WINC for more than .8 seconds and it will make target designation. Then just fly in a release zone and press weapon release. To target something else, you only need to slew TPOD to the next target and press weapon release when in range. No subsequent long WINCs are neccessary
DmitriKozlowsky Posted November 26, 2020 Author Posted November 26, 2020 New procedure is well I dont know. Enable AUTO mode by following the AUTO release mode procedures. After the EHSD is DESG STP, designate your target with the TPOD. This will become the System Designation (SD). The EHSD will show DESG TGT. Use Laser ranging to get an accurate position of the SD in relation to the aircraft. LONG WINC to pass the SD position to T0. The EHSD will show DESG STP and T0 will be the new steer-point. Follow the release cues and drop the bomb when ready. To select a new target, just slew the TPOD sensor with the TDC. DO NOT DO A NEW DESIGNATION (pressing TDC down). T0 will automatically update itself. The EHSD will remain in DESG STP. Follow the release cues and drop the next bomb when ready. Repeat steps 8 and 9 as required. To leave JDAM relative targeting, just unselect the bomb or un-designate the target. Doesn't work for me at all. I get no weapon release. WTF!
shagrat Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 To clarify, they did update the TPOD and the integration to a modern Gen4 version. It's a system upgrade. You will find a lot of recent videos on YouTube explaining most of the changes. A good overview and recap of TPOD procedure: 2 Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 11 | Ryzen 9 7900X3D | 64GB | GeForce RTX 4090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)
DmitriKozlowsky Posted November 26, 2020 Author Posted November 26, 2020 Dear G*d! That video is just a sensor overload. This idea of stacking multiple functions on single HOTAS button is.. I dunno. Single click, long press, extra long press. But anyways. No wonder nothing from previous build regarding TPOD works now. It has been redone. Now we have to build new muscle memory.
DmitriKozlowsky Posted November 26, 2020 Author Posted November 26, 2020 Try to follow it. All good EXCEPT, no weapon release. So there is something missing. I cannot get JDAM to drop off the pylon. Yes, Master Arm is ON.
Vakarian Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Can you post a track file of your attempt? That way it will be much easier to see what have you been doing and to pinpoint the issue

Yes, Master Arm is ON.I had a similar experience last weekend, drove me nuts until I noticed the JDAM was not fused. So check on the armament panel it does not read SAFE in the Fuse window. Now we have to build new muscle memory. That is basically how all(!) A-10C HOTAS commands work. TMS, DMS, Coolie Hat, China Hat etc. all have different functions in different Modes/with different Weapons and differentiate between Short and Long Button Press. The AV-8B is actually easier in that regard. :) 2 Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 11 | Ryzen 9 7900X3D | 64GB | GeForce RTX 4090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)
DmitriKozlowsky Posted November 27, 2020 Author Posted November 27, 2020 This is so frigging confounding! At what point does it become possible to have control over TPOD aimpoint. Its just permanently stuck. Sensor Forward does not release it.
Recluse Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 This is so frigging confounding! At what point does it become possible to have control over TPOD aimpoint. Its just permanently stuck. Sensor Forward does not release it. Double Tap SSS DOWN to put TPOD into TDC mode.
DmitriKozlowsky Posted November 27, 2020 Author Posted November 27, 2020 Double Press (quick) on TDC DOWN is not it. Is SSS Sensor Select or something else? If it is Sensor Select DOWN. How quick a double tap is quick or slow?
shagrat Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Double Press (quick) on TDC DOWN is not it. Is SSS Sensor Select or something else? If it is Sensor Select DOWN. How quick a double tap is quick or slow? SSS depress (down) 2x with less than 0.8 sec delay. Then TDC controls the TPOD. To switch back to other sensor double press SSS, again.
