JG-1_Vogel Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 We had a power outage a couple hours ago. My PC is powered via a surge protector so it *should* have been ok. When the power came back, I left it a while then booted up my PC again. No LED's came on my HOTAS Warthog throttle quadrant. I go to Windows device settings and it initially lists the Warthog throttle but says "driver error". I unplug the device, back in. "Unrecognised device". I've switched USB's and still says the same. Is my throttle busted? Any suggestions? I can't seem to find anywhere that sells them alone, only the stick is sold separately. Nowhere seems to have much stock for the full HOTAS either. I'm going to be completely screwed if I can't get it to work.
SGT Coyle Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 (edited) Contact Thrustmaster about getting a replacement main board. It'll probably cost a bit. Check to see if electronics are covered on your home owners policy. Supmua Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 I busted my Warthog throttle the exact same way (during a power surge). You need to get the replacement board from TM support. It is fairly easy to do. PC: 5800X3D/4090, 11700K/3090, 9900K/2080Ti. Joystick bases: TMW, VPC WarBRD, MT50CM2, VKB GFII, FSSB R3L Joystick grips: TM (Warthog, F/A-18C), Realsimulator (F-16SGRH, F-18CGRH), VKB (Kosmosima LH, MCG, MCG Pro), VPC MongoosT50-CM2 Throttles: TMW, Winwing Super Taurus, Logitech Throttle Quadrant, Realsimulator Throttle (soon) VR: HTC Vive/Pro, Oculus Rift/Quest 2, Valve Index, Varjo Aero, https://forum.dcs.world/topic/300065-varjo-aero-general-guide-for-new-owners/
ctguy1955 Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 My joystick board broke twice in the last 3 years. It cost so much to send it back the first time, that I just ordered the part and installed it myself. Easy to do on the joystick. I have a 4 port usb box velcroed to the side of My PC that My TrackIR5, Crosswind pedals, and TM Hotas is hooked up to and all 4 have push buttons that turn it on and off, so even if a power surge comes through, it wont bother anything.
Madone Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 Don't motherboards all have surge protection nowadays? Strike Posture Set CAS Center of Excellence Intel Core i5 4690k @4,6Ghz, Gigabyte GTX 970 OC, Gigabyte Z97-X, 16GB G Skill Sniper @2400, Samsung 860/850 EVO , Win 10 64 bits, Dual monitors 27"@144"Opentrack + TM Warthog + Saitek pro flight combat

You do need to send in your's though so there's shipping both ways. Should be a faster/cheaper for most people in the US. JG-1_Vogel Posted December 4, 2020 Author Posted December 4, 2020 Good news! I managed to solve the issue. I deleted all trace of Thrustmaster stuff on my system and started a fresh install. It's working fine now, so must've been a software issue. Thank goodness! So I've been flying the Hornet all day and having a good time :).

I was positive it was bricked, but I had a guy reach out on Reddit and say he had a similar issue and told me roughly how he fixed it. Working like a charm now. To say I'm relieved is putting is mildly!
