Lurker Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Yeah, recently got back to the sim. Fly the F14 almost exclusively, all of it during the day so far. Anyway I tried turning the cockpit lights on and no joy. Turning all the nobs did nothing for me, none of the lights work. Is this a thing? Am I missing something, a switch somewhere a setting in the game options? P.S. VR flier here. draconus Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 http://www.heatblur.se/F-14Manual/cockpit.html#master-light-control-panel If cold - maybe you missed electrical power usually connected by ground crew? If engines were on you'd have to turn off the generators to see such effect. 1 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Lurker Posted December 9, 2020 Author Posted December 9, 2020 I did not turn off the generators, I was hot and running with both engines on. No lights. Specs: Win10, i5-13600KF, 32GB DDR4 RAM 3200XMP, 1 TB M2 NVMe SSD, KFA2 RTX3090, VR G2 Headset, Warthog Throttle+Saitek Pedals+MSFFB2 Joystick.
draconus Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 During the day it's hard to see any difference although if you move the instrument wheels to max you should see brighter gauges. Any mods you might have? Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Lurker Posted December 9, 2020 Author Posted December 9, 2020 (edited) No mods, clean beta install. I'll try a full DCS World repair and report back. I do have the setting Cockpit Global Illumination turned off, that's not it is it? draconus Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 No, the option is just some gfx lighting effect. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Xeno426 Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 (edited) I've had a similar issue with both the F-14 and AJS 37. One of the HB lighting updates a couple months ago did this. In the past, I would always turn on the cockpit instrument lights to make them more visible, even in the day. Now, turning them on does literally nothing unless it is completely dark out. And the AJS 37 gauges all have a slightly blue tint to them. This has been rather troubling for me. I'm on a lower-end machine, and it really helped to make the gauges easier to read without having to really zoom in. Edited December 14, 2020 by Xeno426 Expanded thoughts

Reflected Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 Yepp, according to the manual, max setting should be "daytime setting". Then you dial it down as it gets darker. Right now you need may or 1-2 below max even at night, during daytime it's not visible at all. Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord

That's fairly common for basically all internal lights across a whole load of modules right now. Don't get me wrong though, I'd expect this to be more or less the case in direct sunlight, but even with it maxed on a panel in shadow it's basically invisible. Personally, I think the pre 2.5.6 cockpit lights and displays were absolutely fine (though the Tomcat's lights were very dark). Skysurfer Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 They are barely visible during the day and sadly pretty washed out and still glitches during the nigh.
