How to select missions when DCS install is on different drive to saved games

Recommended Posts

My DCS install is on a separate drive to my user/saved games folder.  The file select dialogue, e.g. for Missions, only seems to go up to the root of the Saved Game folder drive so I seem to be unable to select missions from the DCS install.

I presume I am missing something obvious. Can anyone help with this?

You have full access when choosing Open mission in ME.

Of course, yes. Thanks. Strange that the Missions dialogue doesn't allow this.

@imacken when you go to open the missions, browse to the other drive location. once you pick that location and open a mission, this will be where the ME opens by default until you open a mission from somewhere else.

Thanks, but my question was about selecting in the Missions dialogue, not ME.  There doesn't seem to be any way of changing drives there.

You never have any reason to manually load missions from the DCS install. The only thing that goes there are official campaigns and missions, and the built-in module missions and those are already accessed through their respective menus or in their pre-existing categories in the mission load screen.

Sorry, but you are not correct there. Some campaigns have practice missions that have to be accessed from a file dialogue.  This cannot be done from the Missions tab, which seems strange, but as suggested above can only be accessed from the ME.

The ones I've come across with that are all accessible through the campaign menu.

You are not correct there.  They are not available in the Campaign menu, but I think we've done this one now.

Yes I am.

You see, you are not me. You are not in a position to tell me what I can do with the campaigns I own.

Take it up with the campaign creator. But don't confuse your lack of features with my being wrong because they're not the same thing.

Oh, and if it bothers you that much, Windows comes pre-installed with this neat ability to copy or move files from one location to another one, or even link them together in case you are particularly short on storage space. So there's still no real reason to load missions directly from the DCS install directory (aside from in the different ways in which you already can do so…).

Fair point. However, can you please tell us what campaigns you see individual practice missions available on the Campaign menu. That would be helpful.  Out of all the ones I have, that is certainly not possible.

I don't need to take it up with the creators.  My simple question in the OP has been answered, i.e. load them from the ME.
