Yes you're supposed to keep the cowl flaps closed above 250 mph, otherwise they cause buffeting.

It is even better limit is 225mph

at 250mph plane shakes like crazy.

Do the cowl flaps being open also cause it to snap stall violently in a turn?  I'm not pull very quickly into it, less quickly than even the Mustang, but it just snaps around and fully departs.
