Fly a bit. You should see files in this folder.

I did... more then a bit, in 4 different theaters. Still empty. Weird.

Started happening after the last OB update but more importantly after I moved the install folder back and forward couple of times. Then on top of that, I replaced 2 old M.2 drives with 2 bigger M.2's (everything on my rig was and is running on raid 0 setup). I put the OB folder back on the new volume and DCS started with no problems. I didn't even repair it first. The paths and links are the same as before the swap. When I noticed the meta folder was empty after a few tries, I did repair the install but it didn't make any difference.

TBH, I'm thinking about doing a reformat and reinstall of all the other crap I have on my rig. Windows got too bloated... I'll see what happens.

Open a file explorer, and paste this as the new path and press Enter:

%USERPROFILE%\saved games\DCS.openbeta\metashaders2

Does it lead you to the metashaders2 folder?

I noticed the same thing.  Problem isn't being able to locate the folder, it's the fact that the files don't populate after you enter the game.

Did it start happening after the latest OB update, in your case?  Have you done anything else other then update?

I know where the folder is. BTW, I never changed the location of the DCS folder in my user profile.

I assumed you knew where the folder is. I wanted you to try and see if Windows had moved it somewhere else.

I've just done the test:

  1. Emptying the metashaders2 folder
  2. Starting an instant action mission

... and you're right: the metashaders2 folder is not populated anymore. The end of an era?

It seems all shaders are now stored in the "fxo" folder.

Oh good, thanks.

Hopefully it is the end of an area.  No more erasing everything for frames.
