thatonekid Posted January 2, 2021 Posted January 2, 2021 Alright so I am attempting to learn how on earth to use the LANTIRN pod because it is one of the few things I haven't been able to learn. I am slewing the pod and attempting to try and track an object but ever single time I slew the pod moves to a random position, for example I am attempting to move down, the pod slews up a few degrees then starts to move down extremely slow. Same goes for every single direction, and every so often it switches directions that it moves when I try and move, please help.
Flappie Posted January 2, 2021 Posted January 2, 2021 (edited) Hi. I've helped a new RIO yesterday and here's what I told him to fix this issue: Check your X/Y slew axis: if one of them move even a bit when you don't want it to, you will never be able to lock something: the LANTIRN will keep displaying "RATES" even though you're pushing the "AREA track" or "POINT track" button. If needed, add a deadzone (10 should be enough) in the Axis Tune window. As soon as you have spotted something you want to lock, use the "AREA track" button to "attach" your cursor somewhere on the ground close to the target. Only then you can slowly move the cursor towards your target. Have fun! Edited January 2, 2021 by Flappie ---

This! Even before you spotted something! If your LANTIRN is already pointing in the general vicinity of where you want to search for targets, activate AREA track to ground stabilize the pod and then you can slew it around without it wandering off on its own. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
