Shiroka Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 (edited) I re-reported it on my original bug report (it’s in the resolved section now). @RAZBAM_ELMOasked for a new trk file. I’ll get round to it when I get a chance but pretty busy at work so if anyone beats me to it add a new trk file in there and then it can get re-marked as a current bug. edited for autocorrect. Mr_sukebe Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 Excellent update, thanks! I’d forgotten that the APKWS were inbound, so that was a real bonus. A definite force multiplier for the Harrier. 7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat
Dragon1-1 Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 (edited) I don't really like the new sounds, is that how the real thing sounds like? The in-cockpit engine sound feel uneven, as if there was something wrong with the engine. Also, there seems to be no difference between sound from the front and from the back (external view). Do we really need a track file for so obvious bug? Like hop in the aircraft in any mode and look at the clock and compare it to the ZULU time and LOCAL time in the ODT. I have the track file and screenshots from mission editor for it. But need the bug report URL. 1 i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.

I believe the sounds from the original mod (glad it was adopted) were sourced from this video: REAPER 51 | Tholozor VFA-136 (c.2007): https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3305981/ Arleigh Burke Destroyer Pack (2020): https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313752/

This "pulsing" of the sound feels unnatural, like a microphone artifact. Unless an SME who actually sat in the cockpit can confirm it does, in fact, have this sort of effect when at idle, I remain skeptical about its veracity. A properly functioning engine should have a constant, steady sound at idle. Now, the Harrier is quite unique, so maybe it doesn't apply here, but to me, this sounds like an artifact. Cameras are not eyes and microphones are not ears, there are things that sound very different in them than when experienced personally, and as such postprocessing is necessary in most cases (unless you have a studio-quality rig).
