F/A-18C Hornet VFA 146 Splinter camo

This was a difficult one but here it is: the splinter camo worn by a lone F-18 belonging to VFA 146.

The difficult part was the lack of photographs, in total I found 3.

I've opted for dynamic borts to make it more diverse.

Big thank you to Megalax for his reworked template and all the motivation that kept me going.

I love the livery! The pattern is almost spot on!. My only observation is the colouring. The original is more green than dark grey/black from pics I've seen of it.

▲ Indeed: Too dark: Especially nozzles. However the 3 tone gray pattern should be lighter and coloured as well:
Dark gray: as Razor said: should be lighter and a bit greeny.
Middle gray: should be much more lighter and bluish.
Light gray: should be closer to white but also needs some blue. - Regarding to your GettyImages pic.
Anyway: nice job so far.

I love the scheme! I noticed on the right side vertical tail, the middle digit of the bort number is missing or such a color where it appears missing

It was a comission originally and the client wanted these colours, but I can adjust that no problem.

Does anyobe know what bort number this one had?

Cookie, I actually like the colors personally! The only issue I saw was with what I mentioned above!! Great job otherwise!

I look for pics of a plane like a mad man and once its done, you find more pics.

Either way, I think its pretty accurate and I think I'll leave it as it is.

Hi. I notice that once you have a template, you can use it to produce few more of those camos. VFA-97 is the one I looking for, very similar to VFA-146. I think this one was used in operation Endurance Freedom.

That pic is from my collection from when I was in 146. And I'd like to thank you for your efforts. She was always my favorite.
