So my problem is when I'm using TGP in AA mode with Air radar, I use the wheel on my throttle to zoom in and out with the TGP but the same axis is tied to the radar elevation which is completely annoying, cause if I switch from TGP to RDR it lowers or rises my rdr antenna resulting in a target lock loss.

Is there any way to separate the two commands, like with the F-16? Or should I just remove the axis command and keep it on a button rather than on a wheel.

And is it like that in a real FA-18c?

Yes, the controls are like that on the real thing. Ensure the TDC priority is assigned to the FLIR page, otherwise the elevation control will move the radar.

The thing to remember is that TDC assignment doesn't assign the TDC priority to a DDI, it assigns it to the page currently displayed on the DDI. So for example, if you had the radar on the right DDI and assigned the TDC to it, then pulled up the FLIR page on the right DDI, the TDC is still assigned to the radar page, even though it's not displayed.

Thnx, thought its like that, Ill just remove the axis then and use the buttons for it, that way is won't get messed up when switching TDCs, Ill just use Radar Elevation Control Up and Down as a button rather than Axis, that way it works fine.

Was just fishing for a solution so I can use the wheel for TGP zoom in and out and the buttons for RDR Elevation, like I can do in F-16 😄

Wow, that is fantastic piece of info. I am betting that is the explanation for a lot of unusual things happening. Thank you.

Yep it usually happens if you are using scroll wheel on the hotas for TGP zoom which is the same axis as the RDR elevation, so if you switch screens it will lower or raise the rdr antenna depending on your wheel axis position.

This is a pain. Doubly so because (I have read) that the actual Elevation knob is spring loaded so it returns to center after an adjustment, while the Elevation knob on my Cougar is not spring loaded. This is perfect for the TGP because you want the setting to "stick". For RADAR elevation though, if you (well, *I*) don't return the knob to center, the Antenna will just keep moving in the same direction until it tops or bottoms out which makes setting elevation really difficult either in AA mode or even AG ground mode where you lose the returns if the elevation is too high.  So I guess my question would be, in the Real F/A-18 does the TGP ZOOM work like the Radar Elevation (travel in one direction then STOP when return to center) like the Radar does. In DCS it seems like the 2 sensors respond to the knob differently.

This I find a PITA as well.  It doesnt pay to map the ANT elevation to an axis.

For me this works just fine, since the RDR elevation wheel on my throttle is also spring loaded like the real thing. When the wheel recenters, the antenna doesen't recenter but only stop moving and stays on the position i set it. Same for the TGP. It only zooms as long as i'm pressing the wheel up/down and it keeps the zoom lvl when the wheel is recentered. I guess this is how it should work. The only issue i'm having is, that the TGP zoom is somehow inverted. While wheel down is antenna elevation down (what i think is how it should be), for TGP zoom wheel down is then zoom out wich is somehow weird. I'm not sure if this is how it should be...
