thumping sound

after just downloading for a free demo so to speak, just wondered what this was, flying, and all i hear is a constant thump, its almost like a heartbeat, muffled?

I have this question as well!! I've been hearing this a lot at odd times. I thought maybe the RIO was dumping chaff but I looked outside and was not the case. It sounds like the pop when the AB kicks in, but it happens randomly well within MIL power. I think it might be a bug?

Yes, what is that banging?   It sounds similar to chaff being dumped, but isn't  ... introduced a couple of months ago.

Maybe shockwaves indicating an impending compressor surge/stall?  I'm not an engineer at all, but that would be a plausible explanation, especially when dealing with TF-30 engines. I've only noticed this bumping sound in the F-14A, but I haven't used the B for a couple of weeks, so it could very well be something completely different.

I only fly the B, and it is always there. The stall is an interesting thought but everytime i've heard it i'm just cruising on mil power. Maybe it is a genuine noise of some hydraulic pump?

Do you have a hard detent on your throttle? If not it could be that your throttle axis has a slight jitter and is making spurious pulses into burner causing the cans to light intermittently.

I'm using the warthog, so no detent between MIL and AB. However I swear that I heard this sound even when im descending with engines idle. It was hard to miss since I was on autopilot and just waiting to get to the field. I will check again though, maybe i'm misremembering...

I only fly the B with a Warthog too

this happens in stable level flight, from both seats, not the AB, glad im not the only one to hear it

Can any of you record a short clip of it happening (pan around cockpit too so we can see switches and warnings)? Its kind of a difficult to know just by your description.

I will try, but I would normally do this with my phone in 2D, it is going to be difficult since it is VR. Is there a way to record a clip while in VR directly?

i can if no one else does later in week, im away ATM, it does it on every mission, no warnings i can see, it sounds like a deep heatbeat/muffled flameout buts its not,
