Kevlon Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I’ve been looking for a topic on this on the forums but i couldn’t not find one, this is my question. In regards to the multiplayer system; is there a possibility to add some sort of scoring system in online missions that would add to the total sum that the player has accumulated truout his ‘online career’. This would enable a ranking system for the online players ‘in game’ I would think you’ll need to implement some sort of ‘login’ system for online play, witch leads me to my next question, Will we need to host online games via 3 party software such as ‘hyperlobby’ or is there a plan to develop a new way to host games? Regards, Kev. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Canada Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 that's just a joke Nice avatar. Go Pixar. Helicopters fly.
Duke49th Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I personally need no "Ranking" system. But a statistic function would be nice. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 49th Black Diamonds - DCS & Falcon BMS Online Squad
eurofor Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Neither am I interested in any bf2-style ranking but the ability to export the list of events in xml format after a mission for squad statistics would be great (suggested here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=31532) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Merlin1606687779 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 yeah, i wouldn't want a ranking system either but as Alexduke and Eurofor points out a good statistic function and exporting function would be much better.
Kevlon Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 i belive that a ranking system would motivate more players to go and play online, also it creates a cometition spirit between players. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
CAT_101st Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 and thats not the point of the DCS series. Wile I do like the export idea. I have already brought this up in the Q&A thread. and was told NO their is not any type of scoring in the game nor is there plans to add one. Kevlon Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 (edited) ok, well. i can only speak for myself. The only reason i played lockon was because of the multiplayer games, and beeing apart of a squad that is one of the best out there, if not the best ;) i think its very much to the point, infact multiplayer is what keeps this game alive. But I'm pretty sure someone will at least be able to create an external rank system with the lua export functions. i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5

CAT_101st Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I know what you are talking about. But the scoring of points is not the point of DCS. But the multyplayer is and I for 1 can't wait for the AH-64a for MP. hitman Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Why would you need a ranking system? There shouldnt be a reason to do this unless you want priority in choice of aircraft.
CAT_101st Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I liked the the pilot logbook in F4. gave flight hours, a/a kills a/g kills and typs. missions survived and deaths, safe landing after missions. so on so on. A ranking system wouldn't really say anything of how kills and such was achieved and what the mission was like, and would thus encourage simple dog-fight missions to maximize kills, it would not promote playing realistic scenario type missions. Sure, it would be great for air-quake, but that's not really what DCS is aiming for. i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5

Doc Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Well with multiplayer head to head you need to have some type of scoring system to determine which team won the battle if you did not what would be the point. I know it has been said the multiplayer will be mostly based as a coop, but it was also stated that there would be head to head flight. I for one am more interested in the sim for the head to head multiplayer rather than the coop. I would love to see a battle with 8 plus helos going head to head with a pilot and a gunner for each chopper either playing just air combat or capture the flag. I for one am not really interested in an online ranking system just hoping there will be some type of scoring system for head to head multiplayer. Peace Out ~Doc~:pilotfly:

HitchHikingFlatlander Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I think a tracking system would be cool not along the lines of ranking though. Just something that tracked your progress maybe seperate online and offline so there were seperate systems for each. Maybe on a just a personal level because I too dislike ranking and stat tracking systems but something that tells the user what he/she has done could be cool. Actually I'd be happy with just playing Black Shark no stats, ranking or anything. All I care to do is blow stuff up! http://dcs-mercenaries.com/ USA Squad
VMFA117_Poko Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 You want a glory? Join a squad. Personally I think it's good how -let's say- the ranking works now. I imagine how desperate I could be if my pc would freeze up after succesfull sortie just before landing in multi counting mission. 2
