Basically, a 440 pound bomb that pops a parachute over the runway, loses all it's speed and hangs from the parachute, then when sensors detect it's close enough to the runway (or ground, if you miss), rocket motors cut in, and smash the bomb a few feet down into the runway and ground beneath, where a delay fuse causes it to explode under the runway. Leaves a huge crater that is not easily repaired. Much better than normal bombs. The Russians also have one. The B-something. Can't remember. I think the Su-25 carries it in game, but it's been ages since I've flown that module. 46 minutes ago, Canada_Moose said: Ill raise you a JP233 Edited March 2, 2021 by 3WA

Zad Fnark Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 The thing with the Durandal was that it doesn't just crater runways like a regular bomb. Craters can be fixed up fairly quickly. The Durandal actually heaves up large slabs of concrete, completely messing up that area. Probably need mudjacking to fix it... 1 Questions are a burdon, and answers a prison for one's self.
ex81 Posted March 5, 2021 Author Posted March 5, 2021 As far as I know, the Durandal is named BLU 107. But I can`t find anyone in DCS. Can someone tell me where I can find it in DCS and what plane is able to carry it ? Thanks in advance. What goes up, must come down ! icemaker Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 (edited) I think that F-16 can carry Durandals, but not in DCS for the moment. F-15E and F-111 uses it. Edited March 5, 2021 by icemaker
arneh Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 (edited) Don't think the Durandals are used anymore by USAF. https://www.avgeekery.com/operation-moked-the-premiere-of-the-anti-runway-bomb/ It was evaluated by the United States Air Force for use by the General Dynamics F-111. It would subsequently be cleared as well for the McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle and received the designation BLU-107 and was used to great effect during Operation Desert Storm. The Durandal was designed for a shelf life of 11 years and if was carried on three sorties and not used, it was withdrawn from use. As such, the BLU-107 Durandal is no longer in use by the USAF.
