Operating door gunner weapon with VR touch controllers

Recommended Posts

I wonder if it is possible to use VR touch contollers to operate the doorgunner weapons by just grabbing the handle and pulling the trigger. If yes, how can I set it up (is there a mod)? If not, is it planned in an upcoming release, cause this would be absolutely awesome. Otherwise, I have to follow the example of the user hannibal, I guess:

my opinion..

i think it is very possible for the DCS devs to do it.

I mean the motion controllers (touch, index controller, wmr controllers) can already grab the virtual cockpit flight stick.. seems very possible it could be applied to doorgun..

but because im not a ED/TFC/DCS dev.. i only can speculate...

more controls for the players means more accessibility!

i am +1 for this idea for doorgun control via motion controller..

but fyi, a physical controller is sooooo friggin bad ass.. i feel like i have the hand of god with the build i have.. can express my gratitude with ED for allowing the functionality..

any comment for motion controller control of doorguns?

Think so too. Seems like they already have the necessary interfaces. Hope they got the time to implement it. Using the mouse or flight-stick is somewhat okayish, but using touch controllers would almost feel like being a real door gunner. Only thing that would be even better is a controller like your "hand of god" 😄 - However, I don't really have the time to build such a nice piece of awesomeness and also not the space to store it. Apart from that, my girlfriend would probably kill me (using the door gun controller 😄).

u dont have to go crazy like i did.. it ends up being 2 potentiometers and a button on two poles on a base if u have some DIY skill...

Well, if I do it, I have to do it right 😛

Still hope they implement my request. Would be enough for me

@BIGNEWY any update on this? It’s just a little weird that we can grab almost everything with VR controllers, except guns.

I’ll be that guy, “my immersions tho…”

It is very rewarding to have a full crew or even just one guy sitting in the back of a helo when it comes to crew SA, threat evasion, or even just pinnacle landings. For the players willing, that includes moving around quite a lot more than is comfortable in a chair; or even safe if they have peripheral controls mounted around their chair or desk.

That said, let’s look at the possibility of players being willing to move around like that in VR. Should they decide to make/find an empty space they can place a chair and then play “gunner” it would be much easier to “grab” the gun rather than move to their desk to pull the trigger on the HOTAS or do some weird unorthodox mounting to their chair (lord help them if they try to stand).
