Hello,

I am planning to use my current 1080ti for CryptoMining, and buy a new 3090 for DCS.

Can someone, who have experience with Rift S upgrade from 1080ti to 3090 tell, if it worth it, what can i expect and if you are overally satisfied?

Thank you.

HW: MSI x470 plus, ryzen 2700x, 32gb ram 2977mhz, M2.ssd xpg gammix s11.

I can certainly say that my overall performance went up, when i went from 1080ti to my 3090 on my G2, a significant reduction in GPU frame times enabled me to turn on much more eye candy and still keep out of reprojection.  I dont have a Rift - S but i imagine the experience would be similar, its driving less overall pixels  so you should find improved frame times further still

I never made it out of reprojection. When I turn it off, no matter the fps, its stuttering - I have a feeling, it has something to do with Rift S terrible USB support and problems. But New HMD would be next upgrade. Rift S was great in sharpness from cv 1, but overally I dislike it a lot. Too small FOV, bad support.

I did exactly this with an i9-9900ks @5ghz. Big uplift in performance. I ran rift s at 1.6 SS across both cards as otherwise cockpits just look bad. I didn't see a visual improvement after 1.6 on either card, I think that was the max the rift s can do before it become physically limited by screen res.

Rift-s with a 3090 was a very smooth performance. I saw it running at 80fps frequently which almost never happened on 1080ti. I did eventually change to a quest 2 as I wanted rid of the screen door. Q2 is Okay, but takes lots of power due to link encoding/decoding.

Going from 1080 to 3090 will be a nice benefit no matter the headset, especially with all  the vram the 3090 has.

I went from a 2060RTX to a 3090RTX, and it was a pretty huge upgrade. Rift S user here. I would probably upgrade to a better HMD if any were available where I live. I was lucky to find the Rift S.
