Colvike Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 Is there any way to save your progress in a campaign or mission to be able to restart from that spot ? I am struggling with long missions where it takes an hour to startup, taxi, hit every waypoint, contact JTAC, only to get shot down in 30 sec by a SAM site or fighter. Having to constantly start over from the beginning makes me lose interest.
unlikely_spider Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 It depends. The mission has to be designed that way. Modules: Wright Flyer, Spruce Goose, Voyager 1
Taz1004 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Idea is for you to be good enough before you attempt those missions/campaigns so you don't get shot down in 30 seconds. Start with beginner campaigns. Georgian Hammer for A10C for example is for beginner. Most of it starts you off on runway and has mission targets as soon as you take off. Operation Piercing Fury campaign for example is not for beginner as it takes long time to get up in the air with long ingress and egress. Or some campaigns/missions do have unrealistic expectations. Some missions in Ka-50 for example expects you to kill 16 M1 Abrams with 12 Vikhrs. Some mission editing is mandatory skill in DCS. 1 Better Smoke - Better Trees Caucasus - Better Trees Syria - Better Trees Mariana - Clear Canopy Glass
SpikeGondorff Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Left CTRL+Z will speed up time, and you can hit it multiple times to increase the speed. Left Shift+Z will set the time compression back to normal. It's not a perfect solution, but it makes waiting for the plane to startup, the INS to align, and the flight out to the mission area more tolerable. This is assuming you have some sort of autopilot to keep you in the air while you compress time. 1
draconus Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 I'd suggest to either use simpler/easier missions or Instant Action for practice to better use your time invested. Also try to immerse yourself more and stay on the safe side like you were a real pilot, who wouldn't deliberately put his life in danger by flying into SAM WEZ or against more fighters. Learn that it's better to fail a mission because the defense was just too strong and still make home than to die trying and lose pilot and aircraft in the process.
