diveplane Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 been a very long time this has never been updated, aircraft at night have dark airframes not lit by airport lighting. https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
tosmonaute Posted May 31, 2021 Posted May 31, 2021 Yes this is a really horrible effect at night... Hope they will do something to it! Please ED, try to improve this , it is one of the 2 ( the other one is the puffy small clouds with rain and snow)major visual killing immersion.
sirrah Posted June 1, 2021 Posted June 1, 2021 (edited) Iirc, I'm pretty sure I've read a post somewhere from @BIGNEWY about this topic. I believe he said that improving this now, would cause a massive performance hit. Something we don't want in times like these, when you need to take a second mortgage in order to purchase a new GPU (I'll try and find this post from BN and link it here) Edit: Ah, the man himself confirmed it. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted June 1, 2021 ED Team Posted June 1, 2021 It is known, the airport lighting is baked in, changing it to dynamic is something for the future, for now we have to consider the fps implications for all. 1 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Good to see my memory is still intact I gotta second that state about GPUs, a friend of mine is really wanting to get into DCS, but keeps selecting builds that require GPUs when an APU can suffice (assuming you play on lower settings ofc). The prices will come down on GPUs once the madness for crypto ends (although that might require an alien race with an EMP), but until it does, an APU will just have to suffice. On topic, yeah, having the lights be dynamic would be nice, but I can understand why they operate the way they do. Might come with reworked ATC though, who knows. 1
Tinkickef Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 Airport lighting will be reworked when they introduce ray tracing in the future. At present the game engine does not support multiple light sources.
