Curious to know and I'm hoping EVERY day that Black Shark will run through bootcamp on Intel based Mac's. I'm assuming I'm the only one on the forums with a mac who'd be curious to know this (mostly pc users here?).

(For those who don't know, bootcamp actually runs windows at native speed on a partitioned hard drive in OS.)

Anyway if it has been tested on bootcamp was it successful? What kind of frame rates were you getting with what system configuration?

I'm a mac owner by trade (video editor) just doesn't make sense for me to have a gaming machine specifically for this sim....although I haven't ruled out the option ;).

Any insight would be helpful! Thanks guys!

In theory it should work perfectly because it runs window natively without the need for a virtual machine or emulation. Your only limitations will be the hardware.

I have a mac in addition to my pc. If someone from ED would like me to test it I would be happy to. :)

There was a post only a day or so ago from one of the Beta Testers saying he was running it on Bootcamp no problems on his mac book pro.

Check threads updated in the last 2 days, and you'll find it.

I'm running lock-on under bootcamp using vista, there only one problem with my set-up, there is a small bug with sound, when you start a mission, its tarts with the jet engine sound running even if your airplane is completely off, the good thing is that it works ok when you light the afterburners.

Does anyone have drivers to fix this issue?

What graphics card setup are you running Steve? ATI or NVIDIA?

And what do you think would be a better setup;

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB or

4x ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256mb ???

Do you guys often play Lock On and Flaming Cliffs? My current mac is a power PC, I'm waiting for the new line of Macbook Pro's or Mac Pro's to drop (been about a year since their last update) so I'll be able to play Lock On and Blark Shark. Right now i"m just drooling over the screen grabs and video's posted for both Flaming Cliffs and BS.

All i've got to sim with now is Enemy Engaged Commache vs Hokum and X-Plane 9 so a dated helo combat sim and a civilian (no combat) type flight sim.

Thanks everyone for the re-assurance.

That was me. I've been offline for a few days so I missed this thread. I have not tried to play BS with the graphics maxed out, but it works fine at low to medium graphics, with a few exceptions for when things get really busy, but I still think it's completely playable.

See specs in my sig below.

Track IR works fine under bootcamp, but you do need to make sure that you have the most up-to-date driver when you use it with BS.

My graphics cards specs are as follows:

Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

Type: Display

Bus: PCIe

Slot: Slot-1

PCIe Lane Width: x16

VRAM (Total): 512 MB

Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de)

I can't comment on the other card you asked about, as I don't have any experience of it. Suffice to say that the NVIDIA in my machine handles the sim very well, IMO.

Thanks Steve, the new Macbook Pro's are dropping on Tuesday Oct 14th so we'll see what kind of graphics cards they are sporting. I'm hearing 9600 GT but that's based on speculation.

I've been holding off to get one cause I figured the new ones would be coming soon with updated system specs etc.

Thanks again!

Ordered my new macbook pro from apple, just waiting for it to be delivered.

Intel Duo 2.8 GHZ, 4gb ram, NVIDIA 9600GT 512MB video card.

I just got lockon and flaming cliffs as well (i know a few years too late) but never had a mac that could run windows prior to the new laptop.

I'm hoping BS she runs smooth under my new configuration. I don't care to have the detail maxed out, I mainly care about super high frame rates.

Thanks for the help on the matter guys!
