dporter22 Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Dumb question: If moving the FCR cursor changes the radar search elevation at various distances, what's the purpose of the antenna elevation control?

The FCR cursor shows scan volume at that distance from ownship. Then you use antenna elevation to control scan volume. The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire. ============================= Intel Core i7 5930K 3.5GHz, 32Gb RAM// Radeon RX Vega // SSD only // VKB STECS Mini Plus Throttle / TM Warthog FCS / Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals / Physical Cockpit // TrackIR or VR (HP R-G2)// Win10Pro 64bit //
Solution Oozler Posted June 30, 2021 Solution Posted June 30, 2021 Generally, when you are moving closer to you or further away (up and down) the height(s) of the radar scan range changes. It does this because it is a cone. Closer to you the smaller the cones area, further away the larger. The diameter increases as you go further out. But say you want to scan a specific distance at a specific altitude. You may not want to scan a huge amount of sky when you want information about a specific area you know something is up but you aren't seeing them on the screen.
