RvL Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 Hi guys, Im experiencing something which i dont know if this is a bug or im doing something wrong. When landed on a carrier, i refueled/rearmed and i wanna take off again. I allign with the catapult, nose down, get hooked (press 'u', wings out, flaps down, after burners on and i signal to get shot (press 'shift u'). The catapult does nothing, i get detached from it and start accelerating. When i crash in the sea i also have a game crash (i posted this in the 'bug' section). Has something changed with the last patch that im missing a procedure? MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus - Ryzen 5 5600x - RTX3070 - 32GB Ram - HP Reverb G2 - Warthog HOTAS - VKB rudder pedals

Callsign JoNay Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 I never turn off NWS and I have no issues. Doesn't it turn off when you kneel?

Callsign JoNay Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 NWS now only turns off on the ground at catapult hookup after cycling the hook at idle power. (WIP) This? I couldn't tell what it meant, the phrasing is so awkward.
RvL Posted August 13, 2021 Author Posted August 13, 2021 (edited) NWS off did the trick for me. Was able to launch normally. So this is a new thing since the last patch? Something else i encountered is using the lantirn pod. I always use the pilot lantirn mod playing online. Yesterday i cant seem to normally operate it anymore. Keybindings are the same, but im having a hard time staying locked on a groundtarget using point track. After dropping the LGB it loses track and falls off target. I guess not many use the mod so i guess it will be hard to find someone who might be experiencing the same. I'll drop a comment at the creator. We will keep this workaround until we get said event, then we will change it to "disengages when lowering the launch bar." Keep in mind, if you do not activate the automatic disengagement via cycling the hook at throttles idle, or if you do not disengage manually alternatively, you will launch from the cat, but the result may be catastrophic. RvL Posted August 19, 2021 Author Posted August 19, 2021 (edited) Nope, its still happening. By disengaging the NWS before launch, i accelerate and crash in the ocean and my game freezes instantly and i cant even use my computer anymore untill i disconnect the power and reboot. What do they mean by "cycling the hook at throttles idle"? Has something changed with the last patch that im missing a procedure?Have you checked if shift u is the right key command to salute? Or tried using the radio menu salute? Or checked if your shift key is working? It sounds like you’re pressing the button to detach from the catapult instead of launch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
RvL Posted August 19, 2021 Author Posted August 19, 2021 (edited) Shift is working fine. I press 'shift u' and i see myself saluting, but i seem to get unhooked. Weird thing is it seem not to happen all the time. When i enter a server, the 1st launch goes as it should. It only seems to happen at a second launch etc. Edited August 19, 2021 by RvL MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus - Ryzen 5 5600x - RTX3070 - 32GB Ram - HP Reverb G2 - Warthog HOTAS - VKB rudder pedals
draconus Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 (edited) You have to make sure you're properly connected to the cat when you wind up the engines (no burners for the B) before the launch. It happened to me a few times on the Supercarrier - had to do the connection once again. Cycling the hook means down and up again I guess.
