upyr1 Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 We now have two WWII maps, so I think it might be time to update the WWII bundle. A new bundle could consist of the WWII asset pack, a map of the user's choice and either a warbird or combined arms module. 2
LucShep Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 (edited) Yes please! I think I have owned every single WWII Warbird sim/game in the last 20+ years (and still have a few installed). As much as like the type of content, I'm yet to invest in it for DCS. Still on the fence and looking at prices of assets, maps and planes, it's kind of a bit confusing what to get, where to start, if it's worth it in the longer term and whatnot. I did have a go with some DCS warbirds in last year's "free for all" period, and came out of it a little err... undecided on wether it's worth the investment. I know things have been progressing, and if WWII is being given attention by E.D. as much as it seems, then perhaps more attention on how it's presented for potential users, and yes bundled, would go a long way. And by the way, for what it's worth.... rkk01 Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 @LucShep IMHO, WW2 is probably the best part of DCSW… The main barrier is the learning curve - which is somewhat reversed compared to the jets. Again, my own take, but with jet aircraft getting airborne, flying around and getting down again is a fairly shallow learning curve. The detail and greater depth comes with multitude of systems knowledge required to fight the aircraft effectively. For the WW2 aircraft, the detail, depth and steep learning curve is all around the engine and aerodynamics - all the stuff you need to get off the ground, fly and get back down. Very rewarding when it comes together, but requires persistence beyond the duration of the free to fly trials 2

The planes... well you just aren't going to get a more realistic experience anywhere. ANYWHERE! The maps/terrain are very good, with more improvements on the way. The ground war/naval side of it needs more focus, but what is already there is actually quite well done. With all the current outstanding problems/missing features/needed updates with CA/WWII assets, most would probably be surprised at what is actually possible with it today if your willing to spend the time to work at it. For anyone with an interest in WWII, DCS World is definitely worth a look. 1

My biggest problems with DCS WWII are the following not enough Naval assets (true for the rest of DCS), we don't have any Red Army and AF assets except the I-16. We also don't have any Japanese assets yet. I'd like more maps. Other than everything's great
