hi every one

and I know making Dragon or big monster asset in DCS is a crazy idea

maybe it like a out of season April's fool joke

but when I saw japan anime

there is a F-4 to fight with Dragon in anime

also have Zero fight with  Dragon

maybe a Dragon or big monster asset can make the game more fun

As odd as this request is... it's certainly not a bad one. I wouldn't mind some sort of fantasy asset being in DCS (like a Dragon, UFO, Kaiju, etc), purely for the fun of it. But it would have to be added by the devs and made available for free, cuz I don't think many people would pay for it.

This response/opinion is getting boring, sorry for that, but I just have to share:

Imo this would be a monumental waste of time, energy, resources and money. Also, DCS doesn't need fable creatures in order to make this sim "fun", it's the incredible realism that attracts (most) people

EDIT:

Agree with @cfrag that ED announcing it, would make a good April fools. Then again, the surprise effect instantaneously got busted with this thread...

Well I think it would be totally worth it - if only to see some of the more vocal, realism-obsessed people's heads explode 🙂

Then again - no. If you want to fly and fight monsters, head over to Ark (which is a really nice game, btw). It would be strange to first learn how to correctly manipulate carefully modelled systems, always fly inside the envelope, and learn how to use the laws of physics to your advantage, only then to fight something silly that is governed by none of that. Because biologically, any yahoo with a high-powered large caliber rifle or anti-tank missile can kill a T-Rex (if that beast was somehow Jurassic Park'd into the present) or Bronto - physics are physics, and dinosaurs are built to the same principles are we are. And if we are talking magical beings, why do we need planes? Might as well engage that one Loki (the Illusionist one).

I agree it would be a great prank if ED just announced something like that - on April 1st.

If there is one thing I don't understand is why the UFO thing is coming up repeatedly as something fun. It is by no means impossible nor unlikely that we will face intelligent alien life some day - the Fermi Paradox (named after Enrico Fermi, the physics Nobel Laurate who formulated it) practically guarantees it.

The thing is, if we end up engaging an interstellar space crossing alien life with our dinky air planes (this includes Raptors) or atomic boomsticks - it would not go like ID4 at all: instead, we'd be the Inkas, and they'd be the Wehrmacht. And that's a best case scenario (they'd probably simply disinfect Earth from the Human Infestation with an engineered pathogen). Engaging an interstellar alien's tech will be a short-lived (for us), and not-much-fun-at-all experience if it was any form of realistic.

Honestly, if it were up to me, I'd make it something akin to the Jam from Yukikaze, as they already move like the AI aircraft in DCS do anyway, so I think it'd be kind funny to try and actually fight them in a realistic setting. And given that the Jam are mostly just geometric shapes anyway, they should be easy to model. But then again, what do I know? I just like to have some fun every now and then 😛

It would be an even better prank if we had something pop up on April 1.

As a surprise replacement for some static object on an appropriate day, I'd fully approve — even if it was a bit of a low-poly rush job (probably even more then, since that would just make it sillier). The question is which one, since it's a pretty specific size and there aren't many options for what you could replace and not immediately have it break things.

The crane for the carrier maybe?

As something fully animated and flying and whathaveyou, it would be a bit too over-worked and serious for my taste, and wouldn't be able to appear as a surprise since it would be its own thing that you'd actively have to add to the mission. Too much effort on both sides would just defuse the joke too much.

This is why I like the DCS community here it is we have the most realistic flight sim, and someone goes and suggest we have a Godzilla type asset. Awesome.

And while most of us are certainly on board with something that getting added to the game that could be useful for fun.... like always there's someone who just has to act like the fun police...

Like I said earlier, a Dragon,, Kaiju, or UFO would be fun as heck to have just for those occasions when you want to do something completely stupid.
