I've noticed an odd graphical glitch in the clouds while playing flaming cliffs 1.2b. They look very low ress and seem to blink on and off. Not sure what else I can say other then list my computer specs and drivers.. Let me know what you might need to know to get a better idea of whats causing this problem. Thank you.

Thanks. I just tried it but no luck... Strange thing is this is the first time I've ever seen this glitch. So I'm sure it has to do with th graphic settings.

Do you have any clouds or overcast mods installed? If you do, try to uninstall them and see what happens

The blinking clouds use to occure for me when I ran LOMAC in SLI. When I changed to Single GPU mode - it went away.

With an E8500 OC'ed to 4.0GHz, there was no performance loss.

Me too.

Same problem, clouds have funny 'low res' pixaleted edges in distance, then flicker when flying throug them. Using lates drivers with 8800ultra. Changed the 'Maximum prerendered frames to 1. It took a couple of game restarts for the changes to be effective, but its good now.

Game looks and plays wonderfully (been away from sims for 2 yrs).

EDIT.

No not solved. When i restarted the game it was back. Will post if i get a resolution

Slightly OT, was there ever a fix for the missing self-shadow bug with late model video cards?

If there was, i havent found it. Running with shadows off, as I always did.

I have same issue, and NVIDIA LOMAC profile settings seems to swich SLI off automaticaly next time I restart the system and try play the game. Odd.

I think SLi is a no go for LOMAC wich is a petty.

Force mipmaps in your video card control panel to trilinear and that will fix the problem if its the same problem that I am thinking about with clouds looking weird and flashing slightly.

Don't know if you have figured it out by now... but the above suggestion is a good hint. Personnaly I solved it by going to nVidia Control Panel and changed "Texture Filtering Quality" to "Quality" by someone elses suggestion and it solved my problem. I believe is just a matter of refreshing the option since I had it working with other option selected.

Finally, think that fixed it for me.

I think this problem pops up no matter what the settings. I installed the latest Nvidia drivers, and set the profile to "trilinear" and "quality". It worked fine. I then played some Il-2, came back later and loaded LOMAC. During a morning mission, the clouds screwed up again. I reset everything in the control panel, but no go. Set to "High Quality", still no change.

Is there anyway to get LOMAC to use the older driver's DLLs instead of the new ones? I like the performance increase with the shooters I play, but I'm going back to the older drivers if I can't run LOMAC. Gotta have priorities you know...

Yeah thats seems to be whats happening. After reboot, clouds are good, but once i load another 3d application, and then try it, i get these bad clouds.

I tried with 2 games, ARMA, and IL2, one is directx other is OpenGL. Even happens after loading BS!, which is similar graphics engine

At least now I have a workaround so that's something.:music_whistling:

I get bad clouds too sometimes. Usually ALT-TAB, waiiting a bit, and comming back fixes their rendering.
