Agreed. On my sightseeing tour around Pagan I also noticed that the beautiful whitecaps have disappeared! Addicted to low(est) level flight in WWII aircraft I missed them much. 😒
Some of them, those near the coast and beaches, may be replaced by the new 'rolling' waves, but those farther out have just gone. Maybe not completely, but they are much reduced, much harder to see.

BTW, I actually like the addition of the 'rolling' waves. They certainly can be improved. There's especially one thing that I noticed: from a certain altitude, like above 2000 feet, there's clearly a repetitive 'tiling' to see. The 'tiles' do not overlap properly at their edges. I don't have a screenshot of it and don't notice it in your screenie.

I also notice that I never see any birds (seagulls) when I explore the new islands. Don't know enough about seagulls to judge whether that might be correct? But thought I'd find them about every place...

I noticed the new waves have a hatched tiled square look to them I’ll get a photo later, I’d rather it how it was previously it’s quite immersion breaking

You need to adjust the bird slider in game settings

That's for bird strikes on your engine, not actual birds. With the slider totally off you will see birds near the coast on just about every map.

I know of two places for bird (strikes). One is a slider in settings/gameplay going from zero to 1000.
Another slider is in ME/mission options, also going from zero to 1000, which, on mouse hover, is clarified as the 'likelihood of bird STRIKES'.
Therefore I assume the slider in GAMEPLAY is for the bird VISUALS.
Anyway, with both sliders maxed I see birds on Guam and the Marianas, but not on the new atolls including Pagan. I think they're gone forgotten...😒

Didn’t realise that, thought it was for visuals. I have seen birds quite a lot they are very very small though

I haven't got any waves at all, anyone know how fast the wind needs to be?

So far I'm using historical weather, found on weatherspark, with winds at 10 m set to 10 kts (Sea State 3/Beaufort #3)

Modules I own: F-14A/B, F-4E, Mi-24P, AJS 37, AV-8B N/A, F-5E-3, MiG-21bis, F-16CM, F/A-18C, Supercarrier, Mi-8MTV2, UH-1H, Mirage 2000C, FC3, MiG-15bis, Ka-50, A-10C (+ A-10C II), P-47D, P-51D, C-101, Yak-52, WWII Assets, CA, NS430, Hawk.

Terrains I own: South Atlantic, Syria, The Channel, SoH/PG, Marianas.

System:

GIGABYTE B650 AORUS ELITE AX, AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Corsair Vengeance DDR5-5200 32 GB, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070S FE, Western Digital Black SN850X 1 TB (DCS dedicated) & 2 TB NVMe SSDs, Corsair RM850X 850 W, NZXT H7 Flow, MSI G274CV.

I have winds set 4~6kts turbulence 30~40. You're checking near coastlines right? These waves don't appear out at sea.

Yep, definitely checking coastlines.

I'll have another look.

EDIT: Nope, definitely can't see anything apart from the whitecaps which are map wide at my wind settings.

Definitely not seeing anything like this:

At least in the Channel map there is hardly any need (or no need at all) for wind to see whitecaps. They are always there ─ like the seagulls.
@Northstar98We must be careful that we speak of the same. The waves in the WIP picture are the new waves that DCS calls 'breaking waves'. The 'whitecaps' you can hardly see from this distance and height, you must fly very low level.
Ohh, i found a couple of pics I took last year near Dover port. The whitecaps look incredibly realistic!

Yeah, that's more or less what I see, but bear in mind I'm using the Marianas map, you can even see them in the bottom-left of the screenshot Nealius posted in the OP.

What I'm not seeing are waves approaching the shore, and the larger, band-like wave in the centre of Nealius' above screenshot.

EDIT: Found what the issue was, the waves only appear when the water is set to high in the graphics settings, now can see them.
