Cosmo81 Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 (edited) There is just one thing Im having trouble figuring out. Ok, say for example you target a tank or any other target with the anti tank missile, you know how you have to line it up to shoot ? how do I line it up without having to move the entire helicopter a whole much ? Most of the time I use the tail rotor to line up, but thats way too much force and I completely get off target. I believe there was a part in the producers note videos, and he turned to the target all nice and steady. BTW I have automatic turning/targeting on when doing this, but even when using that im maybe an inch to the right or left off the target, so what am i doing wrong ? thanks Edited November 22, 2008 by Cosmo81
ED Team Groove Posted November 22, 2008 ED Team Posted November 22, 2008 This helicopter have no tail rotor ;) The trick is to use rudder for fine adjustements. Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
RvETito Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 ...Most of the time I use the tail rotor to line up ... so what am i doing wrong ? I would start with the tail rotor thing :D Seriously, ligning up LOS with the tele-automat position is another thing that brings proper trimming of the helicopter. Even when using automatic turn to target mode if you fly with some slip angle your LOS will still be off. Try working with the pedals and trim to always fly without or at least with minimum side slip. In other words- keep the ball in the center. "See, to me that's a stupid instrument. It tells what your angle of attack is. If you don't know you shouldn't be flying." - Chuck Yeager, from the back seat of F-15D at age 89. =RvE=

Thanks ! ill try that now Added before seeing the new posts. ED Team Groove Posted November 22, 2008 ED Team Posted November 22, 2008 Just a little more rudder to the left on your pic :) Be gentle, like with your gf ;) Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
RvETito Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Also, you need to steer the nose (align the LOS) only to get LA (the C symbol on the HUD). After you launch, you can maneuver off the LOS within the gimbal limits of the system. "See, to me that's a stupid instrument. It tells what your angle of attack is. Shepski Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Auto-turn-to-target mode always leaves the target slightly offset so you must fine tune the alignment of the nose to get the Vikhr within launch parameters.
Esac_mirmidon Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Be very very very soft with the rudder.... " You must think in russian.." Kurtz Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 I find zooming the pit after aquiring target gives me much larger HUD making it easier to get in a fireing postion.
tusler Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Hi, The exact same thing happens to me, it must be engineered in for the pilot to see and verify the target before he shoots.
