splash Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Hi, could you please tell me some technique to defeat the two Floggers? I tried this mission for 8 or 9 times and I'm always downed by them. Last time I sent my wingman to go pincer right and me to the left, with no luck at all. I'm using Jester and configuring: CMS MODE: MAN(C,F) FLARE MODE: PILOT CMS CONTROL ORDER: CHAFF SINGLE, FLARE SINGLE SET JAMMER XMIT Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Thanks.
Jayhawk1971 Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 (edited) Here's what I did: I'm master arm on, PH selected, TWS Auto. As the Floggers turn hot, I keep extending to either their left or their right, forcing them to keep turning into me, but still creating some offset. Once I get the launch warning, I fire the AIM-54 right into his face (in TWS), which will go pitbull shortly after launch, which gives the Flogger something to worry about while I beam his missile, drop altitude and have Jester (hopefully) put out some chaff. Simultaneously, I order my wingman to engage bandits. Usually my Phoenix takes out the first MiG while his missile gets trashed, so I aggressively reengage with Sparrows /Sidewinder if wingy failed to take number two out. Reflected Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Pincer is a good idea, I usually use a chaff program for more chaff, and have them locked already with the ACM guard up. As soon as they launch I launch a Sparrow just to scare them and put the missile on my 3 or 9, then maneuver further to defeat it. Order your wingman to attack too. Once the missile is defeated the Floggers are quite easy to catch. Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
BuzzLine Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 I kept them at an angle(*) (about 30° left) so when they turned in and shot, I was already beaming them. I notched and extended on full burners, and that defeated the missile. Then I turned back offensive, got the first one with a head-on AIM9, then turned inside at the merge and gunned the second one. Maybe having played Zone 5 first helped my A2A skills . But I need to read up on chaff and flares programs, to help Jester a bit. (*) my original idea was to roleplay and not get too close (25nm) from the mainland. 1
