Hog_driver Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 (edited) All right, so I am learning to fly the Viggen now (and it's fun by the way) and fly the training missions one by one. In the RB-04E employment mission, I noticed what I think is a strange missile behaviour. Long story short, I fired one missile at the group of ships, waited several seconds and fired the other one. Both missiles were going towards the same target, i.e. the southernmost Ivanov. But when the first missile hit the ship, the other one "realized" that its target has been destroyed and turned towards another ship (and hit it). I'm not an expert, but I don't think this is realistic, I guess both missiles would hit the same target (as it's not possible for the second missile to recognize that its target has been destroyed). I attached some screenshots to illustrate the issue. Edited December 2, 2021 by Hog_driver attachment order
razo+r Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 It's just DCS being DCS. If the hitpoints of a unit is 0, it is regarded as dead and non-existent. Of course this does not apply to the real world where the remainings of something don't just disappear. 2 1
Tank50us Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 Isn't the RBO4 a command-guided missile? Cuz I'm thinking that it might be a case of the aircraft telling the missile to change course... for some warp induced reason....

Oh I laugh at all sorts of things, but DCS fails are getting up there.... right along side 3 dudes in a warthog meeting a hostile Scorpion all of a sudden....
IronMike Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 Yeah, for the second missile there simply was no first ship anymore, so it took the next (for it first) ship in the line. I suggest: be happy, for once a sim-ism works in your favor... But yeah, nothing we can do about this unfortunately. And tbf, with bigger ships than some lil Ivanov, this will never happen. You will need way more than 2 RB04s or RB15s... 1 Heatblur Simulations Please feel free to contact me anytime, either via PM here, on the forums, or via email through the contact form on our homepage. http://www.heatblur.com/ https://www.facebook.com/heatblur/
Hog_driver Posted December 15, 2021 Author Posted December 15, 2021 I see. I'm not sure if it applies to ships as well, but generally units in DCS have a health bar. So maybe the lowest health bar value should be 1, which would mean that a given unit is destroyed, but is not completely annihilated and it is a wreck that can still attract missiles. 1
Machalot Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 Yeah, dead units should still have an RCS. Something ED will hopefully implement someday. "Subsonic is below Mach 1, supersonic is up to Mach 5. Above Mach 5 is hypersonic. And reentry from space, well, that's like Mach a lot."
