Hi everyone,

Trying to understand if the module is still in Early Access state or has graduated to final - it's not obvious from the Steam page. From another post (Sept 21 FAQ update) it seems in EA but "slated to leave Early Access as early through 2021 as is possible". Is that still the intention? If not, do we have an ETA for when it will happen?

Thanks!

Hi Magno, yes the Tomcat is still in EA. However systems wise it is practically complete (and has been since release), but we leave it in EA until we tick off all promises, such as A-6AI, early -A, pilot body, the remaining 2 campaigns and a couple other minor things. 🙂

We thought it would have been possible this year, but obviously the date got moved back. To not eat our own words again I will say we will try to make it leave EA soonest.

If you are asking in order to decide whether or not to buy, then just buy it!

You won't be missing anything - it's on sale now, and it's one of the best modules in DCS regardless of the EA status. Hit the buy button, purchase the Fear the Bones campaign, and lower your aviator sunglasses so that they mirror the sunrise in the Top Gun intro scene that you've just downloaded and applied to the DCS menu screen, and you will have no regrets. I promise.

Thank you for your purchase! Remember: she is a real beast to fly, so take your time. It will feel very hard in the beginning. But with patience, it will feel unlike anything else. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask - these forums are full of helpful people.

Welcome to the family!

Indeed. Even if you have lot of hours on the platform, but have taken a break (there's lots of interesting stuff to do in DCS), coming back to it can be quite the exercise in patience since the muscle memory will be gone.
A few days ago I started doing case Is again in the F-14A which was quite frustrating since I constantly overcorrected. But I persevered and now I'm getting 3-wires again, and that feeling is unlike anything else. Going to the boat in a Hornet feels sterile and doesn't even come close to the excitement you get from flying the Tomcat! 🥳
