Hey guys - so my PC broke and I re-installed windows on a new SSD (same PC) and reinstalled DCS but copied the channel and jf-17 first to an external ssd so i wouldn't have to re-download them and save some time. however now i'm geting this. how can i re-authorize them without uninstallnig and redownloading?

Hi. Another user having a similar issue -after updating to 2.7.9- opened a support ticket and got helped. You should give it a try. Log in to the DCS website, then click Support.

i ended up fixing it by doing a work around.

1) i removed the terrain from the mods folder and placed it on the desktop
2) started to download the terrain from scratch
3) after a few seconds I exited the sim
4) i then cut and pasted the terrain folder from the desktop into the _downloads folder
5) i then re-started the download, but DCS found my files and used them instead of re-downloading it all

It took a couple mins to do all this but was still way faster than a complete re-download

Nice job. I don't know what's happening with the updater but that's new, and not everyone have this issue. Weird.

Was your installation special? Symbolic links, or things like that?

I had the same problem - Nevada, Marianas and Normandy wouldn't authorize. I think it's because I reinstalled DCS onto a new (much larger) drive, and those 3 terrains used to be symlinked over to a different drive. With the new drive, I have room to have them all on the main drive, so I removed the symlinks and moved them over.

Using the trick above worked - but one note for any "lurkers" who may try the same thing. Don't just drop the terrain folders into _downloads, you need them to be in the correct folder structure (mods/terrains/nevada) etc. This fixed it for me.
