To each his own... If I remember correctly, wars are won by disabling enemy -ground- troops, vehicles and installations.

You can bring a thousand F-15Cs into the fray, but that won't help your buddys down there in the mud.

but F-16s F-14s and F-18s would for example no need to be slow and vulnerable

On the other hand, if your enemy has CAS assets, those F-15C's will help make sure that the enemy doesn't disable YOUR ground troops ;)

I'd say that counts.

This sounds like a familiar pissing contest :(

Given that all these a/c exist and are in service tells us there is a valid need for both/all roles - end of debate...move on.

Some prefer the challenge of fighters and others the different challenges presented by moving mud - celebrate the difference I say.

I'll fly them all when each module is released...though I have a preference for air-to-ground ;)

AFAIK in Afghanistan the choppers and A10 are commonly used to provide air cover to ground troupes. So it really depends on the kind of missions that will be available: when there are lots of footsoldiers pinning your forces down in a village fast movers probably are not much use....

Because the next thing coming is a fixed wing ...

Well let's be realistic, the Su-25 was DONE---I mean it was really a finished product, so seems like it might be able to get in BS.

Nothing else has advanced flight model built---I'd say F-16, since it is in wide use and does everything, and then pick a russian counterpart that will make for some fair fights, hehe. Does the su 27 totally over match an f-16?

I agree ol sausage;)

And add, believe it or not there is still mudmovers out there in the multiplayer who try to fly( with the constraints of the players and game) as per standard tactics.

As to what I will fly ?, as I am in that number who still dont have BS,(:cry::cry:) I cant say with any real degree, but Im sure its going to be fun finding out.

Hmm F-16 could do everything except carrier missions...

F-18 could actually do everything... carrier based, can carry all A2A weapons and all A2G weapons the navy has in stock.

Dont get me wrong i like the F-16 also but if you truly want a Aircraft that can do it all , your vote should go for the F-18.

And i am not sure about that one now but i think F-16 counterpart would probably be the Mig-29 ?

Who the hell wants to be a weasel? I'm waiting for the day we start calling mud mover aircraft nicknames like "the worm", or "the dung beatle". "Eagles may soar but worms and dung beatles...uh...nevermind." :megalol:

Ah yes, with the amount of dung we seem to generate in copious quantities within these forums, a dung beetle can live a very prosperous life! :D

Cheers!

"A true 'sandbox flight sim' requires hi-fidelity flyable non-combat utility/support aircraft."

Wishlist Terrains - Bigger maps

Wishlist Modules - A variety of utility aircraft to better reflect the support role. E.g. Flying the Hornet ... big yawn ... flying a Caribou on a beer run to Singapore? Count me in. Extracting a Recon Patrol from a hastily prepared landing strip at a random 6 figure grid reference? Now yer talking!

I voted F-18 for the reasons you stated...even though one of my favourite a/c is the Harrier. I would love to also see a clickable pit of the Su-25A and/or T.

Flying fixed-wings is fun, but there is something inherently entertaining about hiding behind an object and causing things far away to go boom in the night.
