so i was reading a story of a pilot of an A7 where he describes nearly crashing in Oman in a canyon during practice egress.

https://theaviationgeekclub.com/the-story-of-how-the-a-7s-ability-to-dissipate-energy-prevented-us-navy-mig-killer-mark-fox-from-crashing-his-corsair-ii-during-a-high-speed-low-altitude-sortie-through-star-wars-canyon-in-o/

so i did some google maps review and i think the canyon is called snake canyon. not sure. is the canyon mentioned modelled. i have been trying to find a canyon (star wars like) to fly. not finding much.

The area is there but I am not sure if it is modelled or not.

It is too late for me now so I am going to try to have a fly-over tomorrow, both here and in MSFS. From what I have seen during search, it sounds a little too narrow for a military jet, it may be the area running N-S to the east of the canyon.

@VFGiPJP - i flew around this area today in the F-5 (been a while in that AC) i saw very little in the form of canyons that would resemble "star wars" type. so i am guessing not modelled. now one thing to note. i was merely guessing at the canyon reported in the article. in the north of Oman there are some really cool terrain features. one i read about on BBC is "Kumzar fjiord, Oman" perhaps the area in the article is here.

this flight was from many months ago on my YT channel

I wish that whole area of Oman was modelled including Muscat but I also wish the entire coast of the Persian Gulf was high def. I guess wish in one hand and ____ in the other tho...

I would see the *whole world* modeled. We can always wish one day we waked up and found ED being acquired by Microsoft. 🙂

Sorry I lost the sound on the MSFS vid and also I was too tired to add any remarks to the videos to tell viewers where the planes are. The moving map in MSFS is kinda sucked. To sum up, the valleys in this part of the area is not as exciting as the mountains in the Caucasus.

The area is outside of high fidelity modeled terrain.

the vegas run is cool too. and the lake mead under the bridge. i like to see if we could get people to film and time their best runs 😉  @VFGiPJP missions using the same route without AA is fun too.

@silverdevil you are giving people slight unrealistic expectations, my missions are mostly conversions. Also there are quite a few missions around the Hoover Dam in the User Files sections and they are not made by me. Anyway, thanks and enjoy.
