Good choice. It would be a Soviet counterpart of F-111 and Tornado GR.1.

It would be a Soviet Cold War variant to be possible to model in DCS.

Would be awesome. No chance we will see it in this lifetime. Russia firmly blocks any current military aircraft. The BS3 got canned for the same reason. The only "Red Air" we are ever going to get will have to be Soviet era stuff.

I wouldn't completely write off the su-24. The original su-24 entered service in 1974 or 75. The m entered service in 1979 ,the mk was a simplified export and in the 2000s the original m were upgraded to m 2s. I expect their days are numbered as the su-34 enters service. We might be able to get the m or the mk. Any pure m would be a gate guard or museum piece while the mk was for export

I don't think the BS3 got canned, it's in the 2022 preview video.

Their was a pretty good mod for a while, though it’s been MIA for a while.

was it a VSN mod or more advanced than that?

As I said earlier even if the black shark has been canceld it might not really be relevent to the Fencer. The fencer has been in service with the Soviet and Russian Air Forces for about 45 years so I would expect a Soviet era or export variant.

I know it was at least partially clickable.

good, I've not seen any Su-24 mods I'll look for it on line. It would be awesome if the  team took it down because they decided to go pro

What part of no in service Russian equipment is unclear? Maybe it will change, but it hasn't yet. Also the BS3 was going to get lots of goodies to make it an equivalent to the AH-64. That ain't happening now. It'll get a graphics update, and that's about it. It sucks, I personally wish it was different. But it is at the moment.

Eagle is talking about a full fidelity MiG-29 module so clearly we are unclear about the same part. The bs variant we have isn't in service

Mig-29A isn't in service either. So I was hopeful. But apparently it's stalled now. BS isn't getting the new systems that it was going to get. Apparently not even an RWR. That's in a news letter. The SU-24 is in service. So fat chance of Russian  approval. I would buy an SU-24 day one. But there is zero chance of it happing.

I would expect a cold war possibly an export variant.

Of the SU-24? My understanding is if Russia is flying it then it's a no go.

And god I wish. I hate anything after the end of the cold war. Personally I wish ED would focus on the 80s hard core. Maybe do a Fulda Gap map. Maybe a modernized channel map. Maybe a Germany map. I would love to fly both sides of that fictional conflict. Maybe a Southern Iraq map. So many cool and unique aircraft. What a wasted opportunity.

Very unlikely. Supposedly even the Mig-23 is only possible through some export contact of one of the devs and if it were up to Russia, even that would be impossible. These regulations will probably tighten up on both sides if we look at where the world is currently going from a political point of view. The Mig-29 is still something that they are looking at and it may be possible but based on context clues, I wouldn't hold my breath.

They pretty clearly said MiG-29A is planned after BS3. It probably helps that it's actually in service with NATO. And it's not just Constant Peg, either, Poland still flies slightly updated MiG-29s they got from Germany, and some that they got all the way back when they were new from the Soviets themselves. The latter were quite spiffy at the time, it was the version they offered their closest allies, so it had everything but the IFF. I'm pretty sure that even in the current political climate, the Russians would see the futility of trying to classify anything about the -29A. You can find English manuals for that one on the internet pretty easily.

Su-27, we probably won't see for quite a while (though it would be awesome for several reasons, not least that DCS can trace its heritage to the old Flanker sims), at least unless there's a drastic change of power in Russia. MiG-29A, OTOH, was very widely exported, ended up on some NATO countries, and isn't much of a secret anymore. I think even the Gardenia ECM system is at least partially unclassified.

I'm not sure who all used the Su-24 but as I stated I think the Su-24's days are numbered and there are a couple of variants that are no longer in use

The last I've seen them talk about this, BN said that it's something they would like to do but it's not confirmed that it's possible as of yet. Just because the data is out there and can be acquired from NATO sources (which isn't a given depending on the country, I'm from Hungary and I know for a fact that all maintenance manuals of the Mig-21Bis were still classified in 2011, Poland may have similar regulations) that doesn't meant that a Russian MoD will allow the module to be made. There is a wealth of data out there about the 27 as well but having the data in and of itself is useless, especially if the vast majority of your developers actually live in Russia.

Su24 Fencer Family.jpg

I figure the M or the MK would be the best variants. The MK would be good for the gulf, and the M would be good for Afghanistan or a fulda gap map
