AngryViper.101 Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Hi I have recently started using countermeasures in auto mode. I notice that more chaff's are dispensed when in auto mode. Why is this, since i have program 1 setup to dispense both 5 chaffs and 5 flares? thank you i7-11800H @ 2.30GH | 16Gb 3200MHz | GeForce RTX 3060 | Samsung 1TB SSD | KINGSTON 520GB SSD
_SteelFalcon_ Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 because as soon as you gave consent, the AUTO mode dispenses whenever it feels necessary, which is rather wasteful.

The SEMI and AUTO modes choose whichever program they feel it's most appropriate for whatever is trying to knock you out of the sky. Все буде добре
Solution Bunny Clark Posted January 25, 2022 Solution Posted January 25, 2022 (edited) SEMI and AUTO do not use the manual programs, they have their own independent programs that you cannot edit from the CMDS page - but you can edit them in the .lua file if you want. ASIDE: if you've edited the CMDS .lua file in the past, before the addition of the SEMI and AUTO dispenser modes, you should update your .lua file. The automatically selected programs got updated around the same time to be significantly less wasteful. Edited January 25, 2022 by Bunny Clark Oil In The Water Hornet Campaign. KevyKevTPA Posted June 10, 2022 Posted June 10, 2022 Do the auto countermeasures defend against heat seekers? And if so, how do they know they're there. I usually don't until I blow up in midair for no reason.

Nope, it has no way of detecting an incoming IR missile. I recommend keeping your manual program or the Slap Switch set to dispense flares. Oil In The Water Hornet Campaign. In fact, I have a customized .lua for programs 1, 2, and 5 that in theory anyway should be superior to the default, I just don't see those damn inbound IR missiles, and I'm not sure what I can do to fix that. Only issue with that custom file is it gets replaced with the default every time it updates.

Stay out of their threat zone. If it is IR SAMs then fly higher (most wont reach more than 15,000 ft), or lower and faster (to reduce their OODA window). If it is AAMs then disengage until you have a tactical advantage. If you are attacking a target with a known IR SAM defence and can't perform a high or medium altitude delivery, then plan a pop up attack and a pre-emptive CMS program which dispenses throughout the pop-up phase, for example, FL BQ 2, BI 0.5, SQ 10, SI 3, - two flares, released close together, 10 times, at three second intervals, giving you 30sec to perform your attack run and consuming 20 flares total, before bravely running away at low level. Also, stay out of afterburner. Laptop Pilot. KevyKevTPA Posted June 10, 2022 Posted June 10, 2022 Thanks, guys, but it's the planes I don't even know are there who are my problem. Guess I just have to keep my head on a faster swivel.

SickSidewinder9 Posted June 10, 2022 Posted June 10, 2022 Program 5 is the slap switch, correct? What is 6?

P5 is what happens if you hit the fwd(?, the one for "flares") button on the dispenser, which for me is a totally different button because I don't have the 3-way switch. If that's not right, it's the opposite. Aft will get you P1, again unless I have it backwards. I have different custom setups for both, but every time they update it, they change the file so I have to remember to copy and paste it back. P6 is the slap switch I think. I think the default dumps like half your stores (or more), then again it is a switch of desperation. 3 hours ago, Lace said: It's difficult in a furball, but then you need to ask - how did I allow myself to get in this situation in the first place? Because I'm a noob with total "classroom" time (meaning reading manuals and watching YouTube vids) of about 40 hours, and in the bird time about the same. Real Hornet pilots have 300 classroom hours and 300 simulator hours before they're even allowed to look at a real Hornet, and that's AFTER flight school and pinning on their wings! So, basically, I suck lol...
Frederf Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 CMS forward to run 1-4 (depending on knob position), 5 is the dispense button on the left cockpit wall, 6 is CMS left. The semi/auto/jammer stuff is CMS aft for consent yes and CMS right for consent no. 1
