OpenXR for Varjo AERO using OpenCompositeACC mod: works great, very smooth

Did you install OpenXR Toolkit as well?  You need both, make sure to use the latest versions.  NVM since you have the companion app which implies that you have the toolkit installed.

No I did not install the toolkit - it needs to be installed and running?

Yeah you need Jabbah's Opencomp ACC which is per app, as well as Mbucchia's OpenXR Toolkit which is universal install.

I've never seen that error though, unusual.  Make sure there's no customized stuff in that /bin folder.

When in doubt reboot first and try again.  It can't be that bad.  If it doesn't work just delete the files under red circle and do a repair to restore OpenVR_api.dll.  Make sure Varjo's OpenXR is still on and not being overridden by SteamVR's OpenXR.

Closed out of DCS launching screen and tried again - no go same error message. I really really just want to somehow get it back to the way it was. Will try a reboot, if that does not work going to try and get it back to the way it was.

Rebooted PC - still no dice, same Open Composite error. I am done just going to try and get it back to original shape again if I can.   This is why I have not run any Mods.  Thanks for trying though.

Do you have Oculus software installed by any chance?  That error is unusual, I've seen OpenXR error with this but not OpenComposite one.

Goodness no I thoroughly cleaned all that out some time ago. Also did a thorough cleaning of both WMR and SteamVR prior to installing the Aero.

I have everything reverted back now after the clean and repair, all is well again thank goodness. Pretty sure I will keep my stance of staying away from Mods, though I was looking forward to trying it out. This was enough for me though, back to flying now!

Ok so thought I would give this another go this morning, this time I got it to working. Think I had a bad command line for Steam VR when I was previously trying. But anyway it worked this time.

I really do not see what all the fuss is. My performance remained the same (app 60 fps in Apache cold start training and flying around), and I noticed no difference in the quality of the image in my Aero at all. This is at the default Hi of Varjo Base. I suppose I could try higher in VB and see if it maintains the performance. But so far I don't see any benefit to this.

Well done for persevering!

With my G1 and lesser PC the advantages I have seen are when the frame rates are lower. The Apache strains my system a lot more than yours so maintaining 45fps with MR on is a challenge. OpenXR allows me to have MR at 30fps which appears just as good as 45. It allows me the headroom to run at a higher resolution than I did with SteamVR and the image looks noticeably improved and less washed out (I used reshade with SteamVR to compensate).

So for me it is less about getting faster fps but gaining quality by needing less. I have turned off the frame counter and I have no idea if I am running at 45 or 30 and it is really smooth.

Well I am unable to access any of the Open XR Toolkit settings. Apparently one can not access them on a monitor, only in VR. And when I bring them up in VR with CTRL-F2 they disappear so fast I can't even read them to know what I am looking at there or am supposed to do. I remember back when I had my G2 and WMR one could at least access stuff on the monitor. Currently I don't see the toolkit doing a thing for me. The on monitor GUI for the Toolkit seems worthless.

By default Ctrl-F2 opens up the Toolkit in VR, then you move left or right with Ctrl-F1 as left, Ctrl-F3 as right. Ctrl-F2 will take you down and Ctrl-F4 up as I recall. I changed these as they also are used by default with DCS.

You can change the menu timeout but of course you need to find it before it times out! Just moving the cursor around with the F keys (or whatever you choose) will keep the menu alive.

Ok will try again but not sure I can be fast enough - thanks. Seems by the time I raise my headset, press the key combo, lower my headset I may have 2 seconds if I am lucky to do anything. How in the world am I going to actually make any adjustments in there lol ?

Bind the keys to something you can press by feel and muscle memory, to me the ctrl+Fkeys is really obtuse, ctrl+arrows is far easier to find blind and more logical for menu navigation.

Yes, you don't want to be lifting your headset to navigate the menus

Will give that a try thanks. If the durn thing would just display longer and let us decide when to turn it off that would be so much better.

Go to the right hand menu option tab and there is a timeout choice there, you can set it to 60 seconds if you want.

I have made it that far but can't seem to change it before it times out.

It says ctrl + Numpad 8 to increase but that is not doing it for me.

You need to move the highlighted menu item down and then press left/right binding to change the options.

Thanks I finally made it and managed to change the timeout to 60 seconds, much better.

Ok so any recommendations on first thing to try in the Toolkit? Bear in mind there is no motion reprojection on the Aero. Think first though I will try increasing my Varjo Base from default of Hi to the next on up - Higher and see how it does and looks.

Thanks much for all the help gang!!
