Hello, I have been trying to host a game for a friend and I, but he says that when he tries to connect, he gets a "connection interrupted" error. I have DCS as an exception in the windows firewall settings, and I tried opening port 10308. That didnt work, and I really dont know what im doing so i set it all back to default. anyway I have the same problem with lockon, where people cant connect to me. I have a good connection, and the guy im trying to play with just lives a few miles from here.

Anyway, can anyone help me out here, do i need to open a port? which one? and can i just do it through the security settings in the control panel?

thanks. I appreciate the help.

I'm not too sure why opening the port wouldn't work. But anyway, i would recommend downloading a program call Hamachi. Once a channel is created with this and the clients (you and friends) have joined the same channel. All you have to do is host a LAN game, as Hamachi create a virtual LAN network between the users. This may or may not work, but i host all my games for friends this way and have never had a problem.

Hope this helps.

Roger that guys, Thanks for the replies.

When I tried to open a port earlier, I thought I could just do it from the control panel, but that didnt work.

I just went into the router and opened them. I hope it works, I will get to test it out in an hour or so. I will let you guys know if it worked or not.

Verana, what do you mean "settle your host PC's local IP"?

I just went into the router/modem, and opened up 10308 for TCP, and UDP. I hope I did it right. I just typed 10308 into all the fields.

Thanks again for the help everyone, I really appreciate it.

Hi! I hope it works too.

----first---

an IP thats start from 192.168 is local IP.

which is given by router.

an IP that is like 219.234.754.233 is Global IP.

which is given by internet provider.

---------------

---router---

this is for ex... if your router's local IP is "192.168.11.1"

it will give local IP (192.168.11.X) to your PC's when you turned on PC.

( X might be 3 , 12 , 69 or 25 .....etc its random.)

so, you have to fix your HOST PC to have Pre-Planned IP from router.

because you can open one Port( 10308 for BS ) only for one local ip.

-------------

-----this for example, if my router ip is 192.168.11.1 and I decided to fix my host PC as 192.168.11.7 and open 10308 for it----

1) I go to Windows control panel and fix my local IP as 192.168.11.7

2) and go to router page from InternetExplorer by accessing http://192.168.11.1/ enter id and password

3) open UDP and TCP 10308 for 192.168.11.7

4) I start server

5) tell friends to access MY GLOBAL IP from BS

done! :)

Would you tell this "noob" how to do this please.

The rest I can manage.

Thanks

Merry Xmas all and thanks for a great forum

Depends on what windows version you are running, but in general it means going to the properties of your network card, select tcp-ip, and go to advanced. It usually is set up to "automatically receive IP", change that to manual input and enter your desired local ip. 192.168.11.7 in this case.

Apply and that should sort it out.

This is only necessary when your ip changes all the time. A lot of routers "remember" what ip they have assigned your pc, and will re-issue that ip.

And to find your GLOBAL ip, the one the "outside world" can connect to, just enter http://whatismyip.com in your browser.

actually with most routers you can set it up such that DHCP always assigns a particular computer the same IP address by tying it to the PC's MAC address. That way you don't necessarily have to set the IP address on the PC. I find this way to be easier because it gives one central place to control the IP addresses, especially if you have several devices running your local network.

Since we are on problems with hosting.. time to bring my unsolved problem up again

i forwarded ports 10000 to 11000

connecting to my server via typing my ip and port in works too..

problem is that in the in game browser my server shows up with the wrong port number and therefore no one can connect through it!

today i tried it out with several ports again when i choose port 10308 it shows in in game browser with port 17006,

if i chose port 10000 it is 17424 or something like that and if i choose port 11000 it shows port 17064 for example...

really dont know what the porblem is here!

This will explain everything you need to know about routers.

http://www.portforward.com/default.htm

you shuld also do a fixed IP on your PC and then port foward to your lan ip.

Home built PC Win 10 Pro 64bit, MB ASUS Z170 WS, 6700K, EVGA 1080Ti Hybrid, 32GB DDR4 3200, Thermaltake 120x360 RAD, Custom built A-10C sim pit, TM WARTHOG HOTAS, Cougar MFD's, 3D printed UFC and Saitek rudders. HTC VIVE VR.

its not about the knowledge of my router... i mean my port forwarding worked out in every other game i had....

my computer doesnt use a static ip but i get assigned the same ip from the router all the time so its just like a static one... i forwarded ports 10000-11000 to my internal ip 192.168.xxx.xxx so no problem this far.

Ok but even with those ports forwarded i can only choose my internal ip when i open a black shark server (which is normal according to what ed guys said in other posts)

ok so i create a server like this:

Name: Maverick-GER- training server

Internet

192.168.xxx.xxx

port: 10308 (tried others already too)

password none

and server opens up and i can fly on it.

Only problem is that in the in game browser my ip shows right, it only shows a wrong port so people cant connect to my server since they try connecting to a wrong port.

But if they do a direct connection by typing in my ip and just typing in the 10308 port manually they can connect without a problem.....

So the only problem i have is that the in game browser shows a wrong port...

edit: Feel free to try it out i got the server opened for now (ping will be shit since i send someone a file right now) online ip = 217.227.36.61 port 10308 you can see that in the browser it shows a wrong ip but that you will have no problem connecting by typing the ip and and port yourself

Well im still not getting it to work.

My router fried a few weeks ago, and I havent gotten a new one yet, so I am hooked up directly to the modem.

When I go into the modem and change the settings, i get these options:

Global Port Range: (I put) 10308 - 10308

Base Host Port: (I put) 10308

Then I set that for TCP, and then I repeat the process exactly the same for UDP.

Am I doing it right?

There is no option there for my IP address.

I know you guys said to configure that through the control panel right?

This is driving me nuts.

Should I be entering an IP into the Base host field?

Awesome thank you so much. I am installing ICQ now.

O.K. I installed ICQ, but when I go to add you as a contact, and I search by nickname, I dont get any results for you. I tried sending you a couple messages via the link you have there, but I dont know if you got them.

I also have the modem configured the way they say to do it on portforward.com, but there they say to just do it once, so thats all I have done. I did it for TCP.

I opened manually TCP +UDP 10308 port manually but i cannot see TCP when i trying to make a server

O.K. I have opened the port for 10308 on my modem for TCP. My friend is able to join the server now, but he gets kicked out after 30-60 seconds. I am assuming this is a firewall issue, so through the control panel, I added the 10308 port for TCP to the exceptions, but he still gets kicked.

I know I must be close.

i would like to keep my firewall up, so when you say i have to open the correct ports, do you mean through the modem? or the control panel, or both?\

Also I only opened, and created the exception for the port for TCP, do I need to add exceptions and open for UDP as well, or just TCP?

Thanks again.

Hey groove, yeah im using a Westell 6100 modem.

I just tried again, and i had the firewall completely turned off, but my friend still gets disconnected after 30-60 seconds.

yeah, my PC is hooked up directly to the Westell 6100 modem, and that is plugged directly into the phone line.

I also assumed that since I was not on a router, I would have no problem hosting as well, but here we are. :) lol
