Resonance Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 Hello, I was looking to transition from the steam client to the stand-alone version and saw that there is a 50% discount for new players (and also players who are new to stand-alone?). I was looking to take advantage of that, but already transferred my steam licenses. I think that there is a way to unlink that, which is great. However, I also have a license that seems to have been activated in 2017 and the source is "Distributors." I definitely purchased it from Steam (in 2015). Is there a way to somehow unlink that, take advantage of the discount, and then relink the whole thing to have everything in one place?
Rudel_chw Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 Seems to me that the discount is for actual new players. 1 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

The rules say otherwise: Quote Each user that has no licenses and serial numbers even deactivated, orders, gifts or transferred from Steam licenses receives a promo offer in a popup window inside DCS World. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/Discount/ @BIGNEWY It's a bit confusing. Hi, the 50% discount is only for users who have never made a purchase before and have no modules on their accounts, either on stand alone or steam. As you already own modules the 50% discount does not apply to you. We do have regular sales and we also run discount codes on occasion that may help. thank you Forum rules - DCS Crashing? i-Epic-i Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 Whilst on the topic of first time discounts - I don't see the new Maverick bundles as eligible for my first purchase discount (it's actually cheaper to buy both the F18 and F14 individually than it is to get the bundle)... Is this intentional?

Is this intentional? Pretty sure it is intentional. You don't get discounts on discounts. And you don't get 50% on all of the newest modules like the Viper/Hornet/Tomcat. So double check that bundle, or that popup Window that have all the first time 50% discounted modules. That's the correct list. Cheers!

Been doing two week trails lately so ready to own some modules, it seems that the Viper/Hornet/Tomcat are on sale for at most like 25% off so they're prime candidates for a 50% off first timer discount. Thanks!

Thanks! I hope you get your discount, and it all works out. But again. I would double check, if Hornet/Tomcat are eligible for that 50% discount. Especially the Tomcat, as it's not an ED product. The text is somewhat confusing and I cannot test it anyway. (Doesn't matter, I have everything). But read the point about discounts and promotions. It does say "everything" in the catalog, but then they mention the "list" of modules with the 50% discount. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/Discount/ Anyway, I've said my piece, and cross my fingers for you! Cheers!

Is this intentional? If you haven't made a purchase yet, don't buy any bundles as your first purchase. I purchased a Maverick bundle as the game client was downloading, then fired up the client to make my "first purchase" of almost $1,000 (before discount) only to learn when trying to check out that the discount no longer applied since the Maverick bundle I just purchased a few minutes prior meant I was no longer a new user. I think a better approach would be to have like a 24-hour window and even send the new player reminders during those 24 hours to take advantage of the promo. 1
draconus Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Billy, you've already decided, accepted the price and bought the modules. You missed a chance for a discount, happens. It's an incentive for those mostly who have not yet decided to buy any module(s). Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

Being able to have the discount for the first 24 hours would be very flexible for the user, and hopefully prevent mishaps and confusion. Cheers!
