LOL, what Signature?...

Well if you have turned signatures off in your forum settings you wont see it!

It has a DCS calculation too for your CPU, GPU, and Screen Resolution situation. AMD seems good at lower resolutions, Intel gets better the higher in resolution you go.

With what GPU?... I'm going to build myself a new rig this winter, and I've always been an intel fanboy. Although I let my buddy talk me into an AMD CPU a couple of times, that was eons ago. One thing I will never do again is go with Radeon GPUs. That page (PC-builds) is pretty useful to see how well things work with DCS. I would like to get VR, but my old eyes are not what they used to be. The NLR F/S rig and triple monitors are a viable option for me. Curved ones........

Never mind about the GPU..... I wondered what happened to the Sempre Fortis in my signature...   🤨

I've just got an MSI 3080ti and an Intel i7-8700k...

Might be off by default, 'cause I can't remember to have turned them off. I actually turned it on yesterday to see your sig. 😉

However, if the X3D-CPUs are significantly faster, I would go with AMD another time.

I have been forced to use a Bluetooth earbud for my audio in vr headset since I switched to AMD platform. Quite a bit on a con for going from intel to amd.
I have tried all could to fix cracking noise and cut-out but no joy. A trade off I have to put up with for the performance uplift.

Interesting. Everything was fine with my Intel platform.
Hmmm. Some more probing then.

Same for me. 7900xtx with 5800x3d and using Pimax 8kx on full resolution even over sampling sometimes. I had a reverb g2 before that and also worked great. It’s an amazing machine and I’ve had zero problems and great performance. No problem holding 75fps in vr with high settings and if i drop some shadows and other clutter I’ll get 90.

Resolution has nothing to do with your CPU, that’s all on the GPU

Hello, i'm thinking about changing my router (R7800 with external usb disk) + my NAS (qnap with 2 disks) and my home assistant (Rpi4+usb disk) with a single device that should manage everything. i think this would be also a save on power consumption, so why not? The point is that i totally have no clue where to go. the zimaboard has bad second lan and the cpu is as old as hell. So i was looking to some miniPC maybe with an N100 cpu, but i can't understand how good is the wifi (and i'd like it to be also my access point) or how good are the lan interfaces, and basically no miniPC has external sata connections so i should have only usb disks. Do you have any suggestion?

You better create your own thread for this task.

This up front:

Router + NAS in one OS is a BAD IDEA first off. Break the router and immediately have the jewels too, not good.

You could use Proxmox and run them as VM's, one OS for each task, but given that you ask for help, Proxmox is likely above your skills.

Keep them as separate devices, best advice I can give you, performance and security wise.

The phrase “better at 4K” sounded as if you’re referring to resolution.
