So as each big update comes along, the amount of available disk shrinks and eventually I start to run out of disk due to the size of terrains, like Syria for example. I reached a point where my DCS installation is just too big to fit the terrains as well, forcing me to uninstall them. Meanwhile, I still have some 160 GB disk left on my D drive for example, which is a nice SSD as well, so my suggestion / wish is that there should be possible to choose which drive to install at least the map/terrains on, while rest of the modules are not that large, but the terrains are huge.

but I feel like there should an option to install the module on a different drive through the module manager.

should? What other game allows for a scattered install over several drives? I can’t remember a single example 🙄

Agree with you Rudel, it will be a madness. I have game folder and Saved Games folder on different drives and is enough for me 🙂

True but games used to be limited to the size of a DVD which is cray to recall but true. They were 8GB. Now with broadband download there’s basically no limit. So especially in sims like this one you’ve got installs larger than some hard drives, particularly SDDs. So who knows, we might see games split across drives at some point. I’ve reached the stage with DCS that I can only have certain maps or modules installed.

Maybe, but I honestly doubt that a game developer would spend man-hours implementing this kind of features that cater to people with older systems .. it would be analogous to ask ED to provide a version with paired down graphics so that it would run on 12 year old GPUs.

Not on my case ... in the same way that I expect ED to keep updating DCS almost every month, I do upgrade my computer periodically so that it can keep up.

I agree that upgrading GPU or CPU can be expensive, but an SSD?  A 1 TB unit cost less than some DCS modules:

(just a sample, it may be cheaper on other dealers)

Oh yeah. I’m at the end of my PC life span right now… so it’s all going away. I have DCS on its own SSD now and it’s all full. Definitely 1TB is the min to buy, mine date from the time when they were more $$$.

I never upgrade my PC in full .. always bit by bit, my current motherboard is on its second processor (started with a Ryzen 2600, now it has a Ryzen 3600), its second GPU, the Power supply was replaced only when the previous one failed, the aluminum Computer case is eternal, dating from 2006, etc, etc.

I'd love to upgrade the GPU, but their prices are prohibitive at the moment, so I will limit the graphics detail for the time being.
