Svaroga84 Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 (edited) I am on the Steam edition Open Beta. It just did an update and I seemed to have lost the included engine sound on the F1 only. Reverts back to the default turbine sound. I'm not aware of any other issues at the time. I have run the file integrity check that didn't work. Uninstalled it to no avail either. I must be missing something... Forgive my ignorance Edited October 20, 2022 by Vibora
Flappie Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 Do you have any mods? Please attach your dcs.log file ("Saved Games/DCS.../Logs/dcs.log" - the file may appear as "dcs"). ---
Svaroga84 Posted July 29, 2022 Author Posted July 29, 2022 Only mods are the Echo 19 sounds for the F-14 F-16 and F/A-18. dcs.log

Svaroga84 Posted July 29, 2022 Author Posted July 29, 2022 Cannot seem to get the cmd function to work. I'm on Windows 10 using Powershell.... Followed the instructions..
Erlkönig Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 Hi, dcs.log since the latest update (well, the one before today's hotfix), I noticed a change in sound as well. In cockpit, it is much quieter now, only the AB sound is like before. From the outside, it has completely changed to another sound... That characteristic F1 AB sound is missing, and I also noticed that the heatblur effect is much bigger than before. It looks like it would have changed the source for the engine sounds to a different model or so... Attached is my DCS.log. Only sound mod I have is the one from NIN for the Mig 21. I disabled it but I still have the changed sound in the F1. I am on the standalone Open Beta. Any help is much appreciated, thanks. 1

Just press Windows key then type "cmd". PowerShell is a different tool. @Erlkönig I don't see anything wrong in your log file. You can try a "slow" DCS repair as well. ---
Erlkönig Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 OK. Are keybinds and settings endangered by repair or are they kept?
Flappie Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 (edited) Not endangered at all: DCS repair only messes with the game core files ("/DCS World/" or "/DCS World OpenBeta/ folder). Edited July 29, 2022 by Flappie ---
Flappie Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Ah, OK, you're running the Steam version, which does not have the DCS repair utility. Simply use the Steam "Verify games files" option. 1 ---
Erlkönig Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Did a slow repair and cleanup, nothing has changed. Still have the quiet sound in conckpit, and in external view, there is a most distictive change to the build before: Even at idle there is a huge heatblur and pretty loud sound already. Can anybod confirm this? 1
MAXsenna Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Nothing changed for me with the latest update, as far as I can tell.
Svaroga84 Posted July 30, 2022 Author Posted July 30, 2022 Yep I did the verify game files option. Still the same.
Jacodv201 Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 (edited) I have the exact same problem except my afterburner sound is also gone. It happened right after the last big update. I have already done a full repair, I have no mods, and a clean save game folder. Edited July 30, 2022 by Jacodv201 1
rakronnto Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 I am having the same issue. Reinstalled the game, deleted config folder, nothing works.

Estou no Open Beta autônomo. Qualquer ajuda é muito apreciada, obrigado. the same here. It doesn't seem to be an audio issue, more of a game engine setting issue. When rotating the camera between the midway points the noise changes dramatically almost like you are in the air flying at higher speeds. When the engine is idle its really loud too. Something with the environmental settings seems to be off. 3

Erlkönig Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 (edited) Hi, I have attached a video of the issue. External view from the beginning is "Idle - Full Throttle AB - Idle". Sounds completely different to what it was on release build. Hear like helmet is not checked. Edited July 30, 2022 by Erlkönig 4 1

ARM505 Posted July 31, 2022 Posted July 31, 2022 I had the same thing (engine audio much quieter than before, still the same noises, but quieter) after the last update. No mods, absolutley vanilla install. I assumed it was intentional. No mentions in the patch notes, but something definitely changed. 1
