Stingray Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Can anyone perform moves like these in the sim? I sure can't http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DGiQYLvvMQ always seem to have the helicopter disintegrate in mid air Stingray
viper3two Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 ..ditto, I can loop it just fine but every time I do a barrel roll the blades break lol :joystick:
element1108 Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I think the co-axial rotor blades make doing moves like this a little more difficult. I could also be wrong but it seems the KA-50 looks bulkier and heavier than the choppers in the video. I didn't see a MI-24 HIND pulling those moves hehe. I'm sure with the right amount of practice it could be done, these pilots have thousands of hours of flight/combat time. I'm at hour 15 (not including online play) only 2000 more to go ;)
Gael Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Can the real Ka-50 perform a barrel roll? Any youtube link?
Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I can do all of that with my collective pitch RC helicopter. Heck, I can even fly inverted and do ping pongs. LOL.

Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I could have sworn I saw a KA-50 do a roll but can't find it. It can loop though....
diveplane Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 doing a loop is fun but very dangerous, if not careful. https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.

And not one has even done a turn around the tail while holding the centre line of a runway travelling at 20 knot's at 10 feet. To impress me you also need to follow these rules. Rule: No autopilot's, this is not a fly by wire machine and as such if you want to show me you have skill, you need to be flying the machine 100%. RULE: Rockets are a must, you aren't flying civilian aircraft, and how else are you going to show your weapons skills? RULE: Don't do those stupid full pedal hover max climbs everyone seems to do, they require no skill, hell it takes more skill to hold heading and the exact spot over the ground while climbing, or in a 500 foot hover. tusler Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 For the truth of the matter Hi, I worked on this Marine bird that they did this. After they finished their fun and games the airframe on this helo was so stressed that it was immediately retired. It never flew again. So just because we see it happening does not mean the helo is actually capable of doing this on a daily basis. Ask Jesus for Forgiveness before you takeoff :pilotfly:! Vortex Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 (edited) Wolfast whats the f-16 got to do with a KA50 airshow? Of course the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds fly without live ammo, it would be stupid to carry them in such an uncontrolled environment. Airshows do simulate combat and ground attacks, so if you are flying a sim why not perform a real attack. "Booms" are not easy if performed unguided whilst maneuvering, a piloting skill I believe! Man, I'm really looking forward to your performance! ;) Yep, I know I'm asking alot. I'll try get something together this week, just some moves I find more interesting. Tusler, I've seen that before, wow you worked on that thing! A Bell 206 was once looped for a crowd in South Africa I think, Bell wasn't too happy when they found out the operator was still flying it. Edited December 31, 2008 by Vortex
Reoze Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Here's a quick track I threw together. Couple loops, a few inverted dives, some close ground manuvering and a landing i'll never be able to duplicate. All of this is done with FD, proper collective control, and a full load of weapons and fuel. Anyone care to comment on the helo skidding across the ground at 200 kph? I did it on purpose so it was rather controlled but i'd imagine a helo would flip upside down the second it would happen.stunts.trk
uhoh7 Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 (edited) I threw up a simple acrobatics mission in the tracks missions, etc forum. You're clean with 10% fuel. I played for an hour, mostly external, just too see what i could do. It was pretty fun. You can get upside down and roll. The rolls seem to go better with less speed. It also seems like, with practice, an end to end tumble would be doable--some wild stuff happens by accident. You just have to very vary careful with the collective, hehe I only went down about 50 times. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=36024 There's also a track there which is entertaining. Its sim flight, but as you see i did it external. btw great landing roeze. And i like your loop technique---different from what i was trying. nice roll allo!
