razer668 Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 About the F18 training mission "JSOW" I like to ask about designating a target in "TOO" mode when using the TDC in the FLIR. I can`t designate (lock) the target. I can move the TDC but it will not lock any target. I tried also the "C" button, but no success. How can I lock the target with the TDC? Is there a special key?
Dos Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Hello, I think one way to check is look at target data when you designate the target, if the Lat and Lon change it is working. You do have modes you could change with the sensor switch. Dos

Hi. Wasn't it the "TDC Depress" on the ministick on the throttle. As @Dos said, move slightly the TDC and press it again. If you see the coordinates changing in the JSOW page then it is tracking and designating. Move it back to the target, press again and it should be there. razer668 Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 Thanks, yes the coordinates are changing. I hit the target. But the cursor will not stop at the target. The cursor slides away and I can`t watch the on TV what the JSOW will hit. Is this real, is this normal?
Tholozor Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Sounds like the pod isn't being ground-stabilized. Are you using LITENING or ATFLIR? Try switching to AREA or SCENE mode (respectively). razer668 Posted August 21, 2022 Author Posted August 21, 2022 I am using ATFLIR. About AREA/SCENE I like to ask wich key it is? I haven`t found it in the keymapping menu, I think it is a sensor, or? There is a screenshot of the scene:

Pressing it in the direction of the FLIR display ("Sensor Control Switch - Right" in your case) toggles tracking modes. Edited August 21, 2022 by Minsky 1 Dima | My DCS uploads
razer668 Posted August 22, 2022 Author Posted August 22, 2022 Thank you, using the SCS key to switch the modes is a good feature. Now I can watch TV with the tracked target. Whats the difference between "AREA" and "SCENE"?

Different names for basically the same mode used to track stationary objects: ATFLIR calls it "SCENE" and Litening calls it "AREA". (Confusingly enough, Litening also has different mode called "SCENE".) 1 Dima | My DCS uploads
