Syd Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 (edited) Didn't know whether to ask here or in the mission editor section. I'm trying to set a cloud base 2000ft above airfiled elevation which is around 500ft AMSL. So I'm putting 2500ft in the ME weather settings window. I also want it to be an overcast layer so I use a density setting between 8 and 10 (cloud preset set to nothing). Despite setting 2500ft in the cloud base the actual base in game is lower (around 1700ft AMSL). When I try to increase it gradually nothing changes, only at some point the layer in the mission jumps to around 3100ft AMSL. Like it's impossible to set anything between 1700ft and 3100ft AMSL. I there any fix to that or am I doing something wrong? Edited September 10, 2022 by Syd
Ironhand Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 (edited) I just tried it on the Caucasus map and it worked as it should. I seem to recall a similar complaint shortly after the new clouds were released. Some people had your experience, others had mine. I don't recall, at this point, if there was a resolution or not. EDIT: It seems to be map dependent. I had no issues on the Caucasus and Nevada maps. But, on the Persian Gulf map, anything less than 550 meters (1800 ft) put the clouds sea level. At 550 m they ended up at 550m for awhile regardless of the incremental setting. Similar behavior on the Syria map except the trigger altitude was 500 meters. Syd Posted September 11, 2022 Author Posted September 11, 2022 Hmmm, I have to check it on different maps then. I tried Marianas and Syria and it seemed the same.
Willdass Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 Same problem here. On South Atlantic, if I use no preset and set clouds at 1300ft they will be at 0ft, If I change up to 1600ft the cloud base appear at 2000ft. Nothing In between. If I use a preset with cloud base at 1300ft, it will be at 2000ft... Similar experience on Syria. Overcast and rain 1 preset with base 1300 = cloud base at 2000+ ft. Broken 5 preset with base 0ft = 2000ft. https://www.youtube.com/@Willdass Setup: VPC Warbrd with TM F/A-18 stick on 10cm extension, Realsimulator FSSB-R3 MK II Ultra with F16SGRH grip, Winwing Super Taurus throttle, SimGears F-16 ICP, Winwing Combat and Take Off Panels, TM TPR Pendular Rudders, 3x TM Cougar MFD's, Simshaker Jetpad, Wacom Intuos S for OpenKneeboard.
